Hellgate: London - Co-op gameplay

Published 7 August, 2007 Duration 2:29

A distinctly crisper looking video for Flagship Studio's demon-basher. EA have confirmed an early November release date in Europe, with the US getting the 'Halloween sweet spot' release on the 31st of October.

Yeah, I think it looks good as well.

i think i like it too. I was hoping for more variation in the maps, but it all looks like it takes place in a underground military complex. And this just adds to that fear.

It's a bad trailer, I reckon - but it does come off a little generic and stale to me.

Still, I'm am consistently wrong about games. Good job I don't do it for a living.

The maps are randomly generated, just like in Diablo. I have to say, i'm definitely more enthusiastic after seeing this trailer.

The graphics are OK but the gameplay looks incredibly dull and generic to me... It seems as if some HL1/2 MODs were more exciting than this...

After the initial hype the game was getting H:L becomes less and less attractive with each gameplay movie/trailer I'm watching...

Im seeing sparks of what made diablo fun here :)

im reserving judgement on this one! could be good could be cack, tbh i think this one will depend on how many arseholes are in the community.

Exactly. I still think most people don't understand what kind of game it is, as you always see comparisons to first- and third person shooters.

That's not what the game is. It's an action-RPG that's about mindlessly killing thousands of monsters and maximizing your character and equipment. In other words: the videos won't tell you if the game succeeds in that respect (items, skills, addictiveness). What it does show you is that the basic Diablo seem to be in place.

I will never understand the Diablo genre.

    That's a pity for you. :)

If these games work, they are less a game and more like a drug. No other genre gets me into the "zone" as much as a good action-RPG does. The repetitiveness of the basic elements (combined with the incentice to constantly find something new/improve your character) is its secret, which is why all negative criticism in this regard is a big misunderstanding. It's the Zen of gaming.

Obviosuly, if this doesn't work for you, you won't like the genre. But seriously, you have no idea what you're missing. ;-)

Seriously man, that is the worst thing I've ever seen.

Ironically it's the most promising video I've seen for the game. I can finally see the Diablo comparison coming through.

I'm a little more likely to give this a pop now. I was originally excited about this title, but every time I saw more footage I was less and less interested. This might just have sold the game to me at last.

A bit dark and looks rather simple. My friend loves Diablo and will get it, so I might well do the same though,

Lou, your vision of Zen is terrifying :p

Heh. I don't mean the games as such, but the state of mind they put me in. Which is a perfectly accurate description. ;)
