I'll buy a fuckin PS3 for this alone; for some bizarre reason it reminds me of old-school adventure games.

    It's very tense.

It's a tough one to call, but that video has made me far more interested than I have been.

So why does the robber just turn his back on the guy who is walking towards him? Weird.

Also, how does that dialog system work? What's with the randomly floating options?
  • Earlyflash #5 3 years ago

Was this video taken next to a waterfall or something - the audio is impossible to hear... At least the game is looking great.

It's been looking pants up until now, I'm starting to look forward to this!
  • cyacomini #7 3 years ago

Reminds me of the adverture game 'D'

  • Mercatoria #8 3 years ago

it looks different and that is a lot of its appeal to me
  • Daymare #9 3 years ago

    Private detectives don't have 'cuffs?

Anyways, Heavy Rain sure looks like another good reason for me to finally buy a PS3.

Loving the attention to detail, products on the shelves etc

What I like about the premise is that if you get it 'wrong', your guy dies there... and that ends his part in the story. Rather than being the "only one right way through" approach which forces you through the sequence over and over.

Looking forward to a branching route through the game. Makes comparing stories with others interesting too.

Good approach to conversation options, nice advance on what Mass Effect does. Certainly a long way forwards from Fallout 3's list-o-options.

Feeling a lot more enthusiastic about this game after seeing the Gamecom footage than after the horrible E3 stuff. I've seen about four or five different variants on this scene already now - I love how they're dealing with the narrative variety, but it remains to be seen how much impact this has on the primary story arc.

Oh, and they still need much more work on the facial expressions.

Could imagine this being very immersive in the right conditions. Massive television and full surround cranked up. Looking forward to it now...
  • makeamazing #15 3 years ago

That doesnt look half bad... interesting
  • JahB #16 3 years ago

this reminds of me of sierra's old police quest games. and that is a very good thing
  • Dgzter #17 3 years ago

    @JahB

That is exactly what I was thinking dude :)
  • space_ace #18 3 years ago

heavy noise... anyway it's so good to see someone is taking animation seriously again, most of the aaa titles just don't get it
  • curtlikesmeat #19 3 years ago

I said in another thread that the graphics weren't as good as the Casting prototype they did - I take it back, that was excellent. Still not convinced about the quick time events but we'll see....

This looks great. I've been interested in it for a while but I was hoping it wouldn't make me buy a PS3. Seems I have to buy a PS3....not til this comes out though.
  • cobaltfram #21 3 years ago

Buying a PS3 for this thing, though yeah, the dialogue seems a bit odd.
  • Ashcroft #22 3 years ago

    He stole the inhaler.
  • stoopidgreg #23 3 years ago

this turned out exactly the same as another video i saw, which picked different dialogue.

    @Widge

"Good approach to conversation options, nice advance on what Mass Effect does. Certainly a long way forwards from Fallout 3's list-o-options."

Good approach in what way? It looks exactly the same as Fallout 3, with alternate routes depending on a set number of variables.

If you think Fallout 3 only ever offered a set list-o-options for each and every encounter, you clearly never played it through via the path of a 'charmer'. Which is fine, because that's what made Fallout 3 such a stellar product. Choice.

Looks really interesting - I'm not a fan of the constant lite-QTEs, but it does seem compelling and immersive. I just hope QD can keep it interesting throughout.

Although it was a bit odd when he knocks out the robber and they have a calm little chat afterward. Not gonna call the cops, guys?!
  • schnide #26 3 years ago

Does that look fun to play to any of you? Seriously?
  • mkreku #27 3 years ago

    The graphics are scary good!
  • Aenima_pt #28 3 years ago

I love how the multiple choices (thoughts) start shaking and hard to read when the tension/stress of the situation raises up. Like in real life we cant think clear in stress situations. Nice touch by the devs. This one is also of one of my most anticipated games.
  • skoypidia #29 3 years ago

Good stuff. This and The Last Guardian will make me buy a ps3. And a big LCD. With surround. Opps on second thought, nope...
  • Domovoi #30 3 years ago

One of the things that always break the immersion for me, no matter how beautiful the graphics or fluent the dialogs, is how the characters don't walk around a little more intelligently. You can see it in the video too: the PI guy walks into the rack of postcards, and after trying the staff door, he walks against the wall for a while before continuing. Obviously, this is the fault of the guy controlling him, but why can't the game be a little more intelligent and realise that when I keep walking against a solid wall, I don't -actually- mean to keep walking against that wall but apparently just missed the closest corridor, and then send me there instead (or just make the character stand still) instead of repeating that walk-animation in place?
  • Triggerhappytel #31 3 years ago

"Does that look fun to play to any of you? Seriously?"

Yeah. It looks interesting, and I'd much rather play this than Saints Row 2 or pretty much any sports game.

I applaud developers trying to be a little different like here.

    Looks very nice. Sounds nice...

Gameplay looks crap. Quicktime events are no fun.
  • Alphonz #33 3 years ago

    looks very promising
  • Kyle #34 3 years ago

This looks great! So much so that I stopped watching half way through because I don't want to spoil it for myself.
  • Kanjin #35 3 years ago

That noise in the background must be the heavy rain.
