Is it just me or is the music for halo becoming a bloody joke. Hitting random keys on a piano does not equal a haunting melody, especially when it burst forth into diddley dee diddley dee riverdance.

Now this would have been a perfect intro if it had ended with a cut back to the bridge of the cruiser and the captain saying "We'd better go wake the Chief...."

Closely followed by a full on FPS called Halo 4 ;)

    Edit: Yes I'm kidding!

Edit of the edit: @Spanky - the halo tune is being ruined much like they ruined the Star wars theme in episodes 1, 2 and 3 by trying to change parts of it instead of simply integrating it into the action.

Nice to see a Halo game with a proper CGI movie instead of on made with ingame models that don't all res at the same time.

I'm really hoping this is going to be good. As long as they nail the little characteristics of each unit it'll be great.

Get down, riverdance! Diddley Dee, diddley dee, diddly diddly.

I still occasionally wake up in a cold sweat remembering that monotonous music from the bit in Halo 3 where you have to take down the two scarabs at once. Worst part of the game.

Was that an Arbiter near the end?
Anyway, pretty cool vid. Music is fine, (and so is Star Wars, so watch your mouths) and FMV is cool.
    Can't wait.

I am sure you can do much, much better Spanky the musical genius.

Is it just me or are Halo emo whiners becoming a bloody joke? Whining about random things does not equal good trolling, especially when they burst into bonkers nonsensical raving.

im inclined to agree a little with Spanky, but only in so much as the Halo theme style is getting a bit run into the ground at the moment.
i have listened to the OSTs a fair few times and consider myself a fan of bungies music types.
(except when they get obscure and entirely shit HRoacK covers and tribute tunes!)

Well anybody that's played halo1, 2 and 3 will have spent 40 hours + listening to that vapid tune. Time for a change... oh right sorry, we don't like change do we, especially when it's such a deep and soulful riff.
  • Yossarian #14 3 years ago

To be fair, the music in this isn't composed by Marty O'Donnell.

On the music front. Some tunes are not meant to be changed. Take the Bond riff or the Starwars intro (and now arguably the opening bars of halo). Each tune is instantly recognisable and instantly invokes a sense of impending action and danger.

Changing these tunes up simply serves to confuse matters. You find ourself saying "Wait..was that the love theme?!? Or the corridor creep bit or" etc. etc. When you should simply hear the tune and it should bring back memories of YOUR favourite Halo/Bond/Starwars moments.
