    Epic super battles x 6! :D
  • AHiFi #3 2 years ago

In stark contrast to the other comment, looks fantastic! That's an in-game cutscene too, right?

Music is rousing as ever and the characters look good. Characters seem like a nice and varied bunch, pretty well introduced too. You see all of them in the space of two and a half minutes and they're all noticeably different yet samey. Impressive.

Very cool. Music is amazing (as always).

Looks really nice. In-game cut scene's I dunno, the level of polish suggests otherwise. I just can't get over the fact that the Master Chief suits all look too bulky and IMO over the top.

    Does look nice though......

Watched it a few times now...it has gotta be in-game.
  • Negotiator #9 2 years ago

The suits have to be bulky, they are spartan II suits the later the model suit the smaller they get. MC if I remenber was last seen wearing a VI suit.

Halo and Killzone got together and made a baby that looks somewhere in the middle.

Halo was never about the mute palette or the beefed up marines. Come to think of it... the whole thing seems a bit derivative from the looks of the trailer.

Let me clarify the above comment; the tech looks good but the style seems to be going in the wrong direction for me, it's got a bit of a Modern Warfare / Killzone / Gears palette thing going on.

There are plenty of games out there doing that style and Halo has always had it's own... this trailer could be anything IMO :-/

    Dissapointed :(

Ah well, hope it's good anyway.
  • BiscuitBase #13 2 years ago

I'm not interested in your cutscenes. Show me gameplay or show me nothing.
  • TheRankinator #14 2 years ago

Loved the whole 'secret/surprise' aura about this game, only to find out it's just another halo game, disapp
    ointing.
  • Mercatoria #15 2 years ago

Spartan have to load their own bullets into the magazines... lol.
  • rhinoxious #16 2 years ago

You can see the start of the trend with ODST,

It makes sense as its hard to tell a serious story (and a lot of serious stuff happens on Reach) in a bright palette.

If it still plays like Halo then I'm happy for it to look however it likes!
  • rhinoxious #17 2 years ago

The suits may be bulkier but they still move like Spartans should, look at the fluidity with which he gets out of the warthog.
  • penhalion #18 2 years ago

Spartans...I thought they were ODST to be honest with you. Given the myth that Bungie has built up about the spartans, they should all sound the same and have been trained to be virtually emotionless highly intelligent, super soldiers. It's why the covenant feared them enough to glass reach in the first place. It's also why the master chief didn't bat an eyelid when faced with the Halo rings for the first time. As far as he was concerned it was just another potential battle ground.

I'm also not too keen on the armour with the war paint. Surely in battle it would be a very easy moving target.

Still at least they have a new engine that actually takes advantage of the 360's capabilities (something modern warfare 1 showed was possible a while back).
  • anomagnus #19 2 years ago

oh yes, this is the business!

On a side note, there should not be a LT rank for the Spartans, they're all Non Coms, if which the master chief rank is the highest you can attain in the navy (if which the Spartans are members)

    Is that unhelmeted spartan Fred?

If you're read the books, you can see just how much damage a squad of Spartans can do. One on his/her own is a pain in any enemies side, but 5 or 6 of them, that's havoc on 12 legs!

I suspect though it'll get pissed on by some people just for being Halo. I'm still playing Halo 3, in fact i had to buy it again after the disc snapped. If this game plays as good as halo3, and has that engine, plus some of the battles from the fall of reach (specifically, i am thinking of the spartan that hijacked a skimmer, flew into the middle of the covenant army and threw a football nuke into the middle of thousands of them, and got away) i'm a happy camper

Is this based on the first book "Fall of Reach"?
If so this is The first Spartan Platoon, with John in command.
Epic battles and an epic fail for the platoon awaits...looks amazing.
Regards comments about it looking different, yes it does, but all series have to evolve or risk going stale.
  • Alkeno #21 2 years ago

Looks awesome, but I'm also intrigued by the change in art direction. Halo had a distinctive feature in its rich colour palette, now that seems to be gone (most likely to appeal to the mass market that has been against color and saying Halo 3 looks like crap).
  • Wolverfrog #22 2 years ago

Apparently, these Spartans are part of a special team of IIs nicknamed "Hellspartans," they were handpicked by ONI. Basically, they're the 'Bad Company' of the Spartans.
  • uzivatel #23 2 years ago

@Wolverfrog: The Hellspartans thing is said to be very non-canon ... think Nicole-458
  • davisorle #24 2 years ago

    Simply Legendary Halo.
  • RedSparrows #25 2 years ago

Who said this cut-scene was representative of the entire game's colour pallette?
  • Zander #26 2 years ago

I agree with penhalion about the spartans. They are trained from Childhood to be soldiers and it worries me they have to much 'tude just to please the same people that liked the Transformers films. That helmet paint looks stupid too. MC would be turning in his err... grave
  • rhinoxious #27 2 years ago

ONe worry about upping the graphical detail is that the game might lose some of its scale.

Halo should be all about huge battles, masses of enemies and gigantic architecture. If you've got 6 spartans on your side, then you'd need a shit load of baddies to challenge them.
  • RedSparrows #28 2 years ago

Also, where was the 'attitude' in the video, aside from the skull-helmet? There was no 'HUH! FUCK YEAH!' Gears stuff.
  • brinlarden #29 2 years ago

if thats what the final game looks like and with that framerate, i will pretty much come everywhere

Did your disc snap because you snapped it with frustration, because the game is so shit.
  • TravisTouchdown #31 2 years ago

    @anomagnus:

Your enthusiasm is actually rather charming but .... you've read the books?
  • ODB_Mongoose #32 2 years ago

Bungie should start a trailer factory instead of a game developer - atmospheric bla bla
  • SniperZoz #33 2 years ago

Looks fine if you ask me ... but what they should really do to go alongside this release is a remake of Halo 1 & 2 (singleplayer campains) in current tech... hell if God of War got away with it Halo would too - they'de get my money that's for sure!
  • Stu #34 2 years ago

Hope this involves more of the epic battles Halo does best and less of the traipsing around which made ODST such an odd experience.
  • CalmHorizons #35 2 years ago

"Spartans never die George. They're just missing in action". Jesus, that's the kind of dialog that makes me want to tear my face off. It doesn't even mean anything.
