Even the covenant call him a demon because he seemingly can't be killed. It kind of explains why they were so desperate to eliminate every spartan the humans produced. If just one can decimate their fleets imagine what 100 could achieve. It also explains why (in halo 1) they wanted to stop him before he was revived.
