Halo 3 Recon - Announcement Trailer

Published 9 October, 2008 Duration 2:50

We've used the Chief to illustrate it, but apparently he's not in this one. It's a new Halo 3 campaign and multiplayer combo due out in autumn 2009, and it features a new hero. Oooh.

As long as the coop retains its high standard i'm happy.
  • t8yman #2 3 years ago

hmm, interesting. wonder how long it will last? 2,4,6 hours?
  • Triggerhappytel #3 3 years ago

Is it just me, or did they remove the 'Where are you Maddy?' from the garbled writing? I watched it three times and didn't see it.

Anyway, looks nice, but shows us fuck all about the game - for something which is due out within, well, a few months at most, it would be nice for some in-game footage to get a better idea of the actual subject matter.

I wonder, will there be many Ghosts in this Recon, etc.

It says Fall 2009 - its only just Fall 2008 - so its a little longer than a few months dood.

I'm guessing (and hoping) that because you're not some uber-hard cyborg-robot mashup, but merely a semi-hard well-trained man, that death will come a bit easier for the ODST than Master Chief. I'd be disappointed if they just give him the same attributes as a near-legendary super soldier (like Haze when you switched to playing the rebels).

    Fingers crossed...

@ Stifler - yeah, good point; I didn't notice it said 2009. Still, why bother with an expansion pack two whole years after the original game? Why not just create a new chapter in the franchise and call it Halo Recon, or Full Spectrum Halo, or something?

oh so prerendered trailers are ok now then...
  • Quint2020 #9 3 years ago

    \o/

    Cannot bloody wait.
  • Dizzy #10 3 years ago

Actually I am looking forward to facing the Covenant with a squishy character instead of uber imba MC.
  • Triggerhappytel #11 3 years ago

@ superjag - yeah, it's okay if it's not Sony.

If there's a Playr TV show on TGS, let's see how many journos moan about the fact this trailer is pre-rendered.

I can't believe with the amount of first-person shooters on the 360 starring Generic Space Marine, a developer like Bungie that spent years crafting Master Chief and his backstory has the nerve to make Generic Space Marine: The Game!

Oh well - where, when and how can I buy it?

CGI has always been oke, as long as you don't claim that it is ingame like sony has a habit of doing.

Damnit, why do they still churn out more of this? I'm actually still at the end of the original halo :) I promise I'll finish it some time soon, reeeal soon...

check out the official xbox.com news release. It lists so much more about what's coming in this expansion pack. It's going to be sweet!

So from this new trailer we get two bits of information.

    1. The city is being overrun by the Covenant (I thought they were our allies after Halo 3).
    2. The City AI is trying to guide the marine using the signs. So your AI companion this time around isn't stuck in your helmet, but instead uses serveilance cameras and public information signs to warn you about impending encounters.

Still just looks like Bunjies attempt at a "Blue shift or opposing forces" style expansion though.

Prerendered trailers are fine when the trailer isn't claimed to be real-time.

It wasn't the pre rendering that everyone moaned about, it was the lying.

This is set right after the prophet did a slipspace jump over Mombasa in halo 2. You can see his ship and the explosion is the one that destroyed the space elevator.

I wonder how long this will be. A fullblown game? Hope that coop is in again.

    That looks awesome.

the creatures in the street seem to be Brutes (albeit heavily armoured) so i suppose its more guerilla killing.
i do hope they have thrown in more 'elite' playing though, but having said that im not sure whether i would support a ton of stealth play....hmm, squad play would be dream.
My biggest addiction through-out halo games was keeping squad members alive through firefights.
i am suprised bungie never set a reward for it though.

    I KNEW....it was a Halo game.

They should have just called it halo recon, halo 3 recon just seems a bit shite and gimmicky like bungie are saying 'BUY ME CUZ I'M LIKE HALO 3 PLZZZZZZZZ'
