I loved Guild Wars. I completely rinsed the PvE and got heavily involved in the PvP side of it. It was funny because a lot of jaded ex counter strike players turned to Guild Wars as it was something different but the PvP was so finely balanced. Having some 'epic gear' wouldn't give you an advantage. I hope they follow the same route with this game!

There are two types of PvP this time around. Competitive PvP will have in-game tourney ladder, and everyone gets maximum level and uniform gear, so it will all depend on skill, rather than the gear.

The so-called World versus World will have three servers battling one another. It is here that gear starts to matter a little, and a level 20 could potentially encounter a level 80. You can find more info on this here.
