Looks nice and such, but I'm much more interested in seeing some actual gameplay tbh.

    Really excited about this!!!

Easy to see why they haven't released it yet - with the stuttering frame rate - when all you can see is the inside of an apartment.

Hope the final build of the "world" is inhabited in greater density than ground zero of Chernobyl – which is about how it looks at the moment.

I REALLY hope it's just on my PC/internets it looks that rough... I'm getting tearing all over, and horrific pixelation.
  • TagemandBagem #8 4 years ago

GTA:IV will rise or fall on it's gameplay mechanics. If it keeps the same broken gunfight and unarmed combat then it's not worth playing. If they can implement a good Kill.Switch cover system and some decent ballistics along with some satisfying unarmed combat moves then it could be great. Also it goes without saying the car handling has to significantly change.
I'm feeling pretty Meh! about the whole thing but then I felt the same way when I took a chance and picked GTA:III off the shelf.
  • JediMasterMalik #9 4 years ago

That looks really rather dated. Shame.
  • Dude_90 #10 4 years ago

    looks good cant wait
  • Dizzy #11 4 years ago

Music is TEH suck... gameplay... hmmm.. looks like you are more a revenge guy than a real gangster. I like that.
  • ProfessorLesser #12 4 years ago

What the christ, that looks freaking horrible! Like a PC game from 6-7 years ago.
  • penhalion #13 4 years ago

All that promise and they deliver this. Saints Row 1 looks better than this and had a customisable main character to boot!

The liberty statue at the beginning looked like it was from a bloody PS2 for frak sake!.....Maybe this IS the PS2 version?
  • Feralhero #14 4 years ago

It looks horrible because eurogamer put it up in a small resolution.
It stutters cos the game is not finished.
and you can't complain about gameplay cos you haven't seen any yet.
So stop predicting it will be crap when there's still a good 3+ months left of work to do.
  • M_Spitz #15 4 years ago

Was that Queen Latifah doing one of the female voices?
  • boxrock #16 4 years ago

I think it looks great, brilliant character animation and the graphics look very crisp, a huge step from the old cartoon style.I think this will be the benchmark for next gen games the same as GTA 3 was!

People love to moan though, with silly comments like "What the christ, that looks freaking horrible! Like a PC game from 6-7 years ago"

    Yeah it does doesn't it?...NO, f00k off!
  • maniacfox #17 4 years ago

GTA 4, sorry, it looks more like GTA 3.1.
  • PapaSmurf630 #18 4 years ago

Looks ace! GTA has always been about the characters and comedy rather than graphics etc...cannot wait.
  • konstantinos #19 4 years ago

    boxrock,

be cool, mate, no need for (defensive) animosity... we all (well, most of us...) want/"need" this to be great... but this was underwhelming no matter how you look at it... in any case, the gameplay will be the deciding factor...

    cheers...
  • hula hoops #20 4 years ago

omg ... my interest in this game has suddenly died.
  • Razz #21 4 years ago

    AWESOME! Can't wait! :))

this game is going to rock.
  • tgigreeny #24 4 years ago

hehe. Remember GTAIII? Graphically it seemed very poor at first. Choppy frame-rate, pop-in, low-res. Then you saw the scale of the thing. GTA games always push their host generation beyond it's technical limits. Their scope is that amitious. So yes, it doesn't look as good as Project Gotham or Ghost Recon 2 in small segments. But just realise the scale. And everyone who says its too much like GTAIII, graphically. Go back and play it. Go on. Yeah, looks sh*ite these days, doesn't it. This will still be a remarkable technical achievement.
  • mull #25 4 years ago

I gotta agree, the version up here is dog rough compared to the Gametrailers HD one. I also concur with everyone saying that we need to just see a bit of actual in game footage as opposed to cutscene gubbins, too, to get a handle on the game play. This trailer makes it look like an episode of the Sopranos, which although nice is unrepresentative of the final product, methinks.
  • ProfessorLesser #26 4 years ago

    @boxroxk:

    Um, well... it does. Sorry?
  • McLovin85 #27 4 years ago

is it me or does the fire at 1:42 look like some of the most realistic fire i've seen in a game? it might just be quite late and i'm tired.
  • YourMessageHere #28 4 years ago

I can get away with it looking how it looks; it's OK, although it's not as good as I'd expect. But can we lose the hip-hop SHITE this time? I had enough trouble with it in SA, when it was appropriate to the setting. But now? Stop. You're just making it seem really false and posturing, a forced effort to be In Wit Da Kidzzz. "Gangsta", as in "something to do with rap" does not equal "Gangster", as in "member of organised crime racket".
  • Diomedes117 #29 4 years ago

Graphically nothing special, especially if you compare it to another open-ended game like Assasins Creed. Though it looked COOL, and funny! I just hope gameplay wise it has been changed, considerindg it's for the 360 and not the PS2...

'Looks nice and such, but I'm much more interested in seeing some actual gameplay tbh.'

    +1
  • pjmaybe #31 4 years ago

Looks like plenty of in-game-engine stuff there to me.

Certainly doesn't look bad. At least it doesn't look as horribly shiny as Saints Row :)

I dont know why people are expting such a radical change as the 2D to 3D.

Short of creating a fourth dimension how can they innovate the same as GTAIII?
  • Danoxth #33 4 years ago

    @ M_Spitz

I thought so too, I hope i'm wrong though, *prays he's wrong*
  • jack_klugman #34 4 years ago

I must admit it doesn't quite have the "wow" factor that the Assassins Creed previews did, regardless of how the final product was received.
  • Nallen #35 4 years ago

Having read the other comments I don't feel so bad for thinking 'worst looking next gen game evar' about half way through.

When the GTA3 games came out I remember talking about how I hoped the ones would look like Gran Turismo but in a city. Fat chance.
  • Triggerhappytel #36 4 years ago

Despite what the sceptics may say, I still think this will deliver the goods. Looking pretty decent so far, and like others have said, GTA has never been about cutting-edge graphics.
  • Bloodloss #37 4 years ago

The graphics do look pretty terrible. If even the selection of scenes they've chosen to put in a trailer look terrible, then I can't imagine how poor the bad parts of the game will look like.

Luckily, I don't care too much about graphics and was never hyped up over this game. Hopefully they do indeed push the barrier of technology for this console generation with how big the cities are, etc.
  • hiddenranbir #38 4 years ago

Hmm, do I dare wait for the PC version...
  • fluff_the_tiger #39 4 years ago

looks quite good, no matter what the internet 'geniuses' on here say. The framerate looks a little stuttery, but I suppose they will have tried to keep the fps boundaries the same as previous GTA's, which, lets face it, were 20 - 30 fps at best
  • guernican #40 4 years ago

If anyone on here has ever bought a GTA game for outstanding graphics and innovative gameplay mechanics, they're a 'tard. GTA games are outstanding productions because they understand how to mix it up and drive a plot. Oh, and they make good dirty jokes. I'm sure this one will be no different and, frankly, I'm buying it anyway.

Think about Assassin's Creed. How much better would it have been if, instead of beating some poor schmuck up for the nth time to get some info out of him, you had to sneak back to his house, steal some stuff from his attic, etc etc etc, THEN beat him up and kill him.

    Much better. That's what.
  • General Coxykiller #41 4 years ago

Looks a load of shit, GFX look nearly as good as Kane and Lynch, lame. Look for a more original title to give you depth and innovation, just go and pick up Bio Shock!

  • ~A*nUUb1s~ #42 4 years ago

    @General Coxykiller
excuse me......? what did ya say?
BioShock inovative? nah man it was just a damn good (near perfect) game
but pretty much like SystemShock that has been tuned
to perfection...... yeah it was that "Lookin Glass" felling......
GTA always been about fun and fun and...thats pretty much everything
yeah btw i think Project Gotham was a way betther racin game then Assasins Creed *been sarcastic on how ppl compare very different games*
  • Mauve #43 4 years ago

I think the graphics look good. There are plenty of next-gen effects and an overriding sense of attention to detail in this trailer. Even if not everything you see is pure eye candy, in a game like GTA the nice touches build up very quickly so that when you see a whole city drawn in this kind of detail, the overall effect will absolutely measure up to the best of next-gen games.
