Gothic 2's combat was poor enough to put me off an otherwise lovely game.

Gothic 3 looks like it's shaping up nicely.

Is it worth going back and playing the previous two games?

Probably not, PCZone gave it 85, I may pick up the game, I've been wanting an in depth RPG for a while, this seems to do that well.

I seems quite fun to play. My only problem is that you are forced to play a specific character in the game. I guess i'm used to AD&D where you get a choice.
