seems epic are a bit too full of themselves

Wow - either this is the most underwhelming Story-trailer of all times, or I just can't bear listening to women in general.
I can see that they were going after that Tomb Raider Reboot Trailer mood, but they really screwed it up.

Come on, the opening cinematic is clearly designed to get newcomers to the series up to speed on the story. No need to be down on it.

    Love gears can't wait.

Sure I read some comments on Eurogamer that were not people trying to out do.each other to.be funny. Could be wrong though......

    First thoughts:

OK I've seen that gun before *yawn*... but that's definitely NOT Marcus Fenix's bum.

But then still mostly *yawn*, which is not to say disappointed, just nothing exciting there.

Looks pretty exciting to me. What's with all the hate?
  • Skooch #11 9 months ago

I played the Beta and it was absolutely brillliant, but I am a big Gears fan so biased.

For those hating on this 2m bit of cinematic, how about you wait and try and actually play the game before you judge. Or are you just hating for the sake of it?

I truly can't wait for this. The beta was all kinds of awesome, just release it already please. It's going to be a looong few weeks until then!

If this is meant to be a "previously on Lost" movie, it didn't work on me. Can't say I have scooby about what's going on! I'm sure it'll involve chainsawing something in the face though.

Don't fucking care; cannot wait. Day one purchase.

Looks incredible i can't wait for some more gears action.
  • Braincleaner #16 9 months ago

seems more like a "if you stay on the menu screen for 45 seconds this plays" Cinematic than the actual game opening cinematic

Korpers: "What's with all the hate?"

It must be because Gears of War has always been a very mediocre game but it's still hugely popular. I admit it's slightly annoying when genuinely good games don't sell but people are crazy about these simple, repetitive, clunky and boring-looking mainstream shooters.

I've finished both GoWs and even thought I didn't like them, I can completely understand why teenagers love them. They are full of things teens think are mature. They're scared of playing colorful games (=kids games!) so greyish-brown GoW is a safe choice and your buddies won't laugh at you. Swearing and extreme gore also might seem like a strong sign of maturity to a 15-year old. And this whole "badass" act that's actually quite awkward to watch.

And yes, if I were still a teenager, I'd most likely go for GoW, too.

A rubbish opening sequence from a very poor and highly over rated game. boooooo
  • onyxbox #19 9 months ago

    dull as dishwater.
  • inutaihanyou #20 9 months ago

I like GOW, shooting shit and multiplayer. So as i like those 3 things, i will be picking up GOW3.

If the gamer elitists who think they know what's better than everything else(with their oh so refined tastes) just want to hate, they can.

I didn't think I was hating, and I've always been a Gears fan, so it's virtually an auto purchase for me. As promotional material this just happens to be a very dry choice. That said I'm inclined to think it's real-time, not prerendered, some little signs here and there I think would have been cleaned up if it was a vid. So it's looking good, it impresses technically, just too muted and simple to say wow.

Just seems an odd choice is all.
