GDC: LittleBigPlanet - Trailer

Published 8 March, 2007 Duration 1:15

The undoubted highlight of Phil Harrison's keynote speech at the GDC yesterday was this little gem. A true sandbox game creation tool and publisher, LittleBigPlanet exemplifies the 'community' aspect that Sony is driving so hard at.

The characters remind me of the Vauxhall Corsa advert...

Wow, that looks really good. I might have to get a PS3 now.

'leetgamer123', indeed. Sony getting down with the kids again, or evolving irony?

Geez, the gametrailers one was 4 minutes! :p

Probably the first thing I've seen on the PS3 that's made me think 'hmmm, interesting'.

Nice trailer, it fleshes out the concept a bit more.

Everyone should watch this and the two on GameTrailers to get a good picture of the game as a whole.

When the PS3 hits £200 this is the first game I'm buying for it! ;)

@Pac-man ate my wife: " When PS3 hits £200" lol!

    That does look supacool!

Omg, that's ps3? I thought that was for PSP, what with the link in the "PSP News". If I hadn't read the comments I would've been under the impression of another fine title coming for my little black brick. But PS3? Not impressed!

    people find this impressive?
  • MaxiSleep #12 5 years ago

    Ermmmmm.......

Not for me I thinks. These things sound great in principle but in practice they still need talent/vision et al, which is often pretty lacking.

    Certainly not a system seller.

If the toolset is adequate and a couple of million people download the thing, I'm sure some of them will be able to come up with something nice. The challenge will be separating the few gems from the crap, but this could be something big.

As for it being a system seller or not, community-sharing-stuff is pretty hot on the internet. If properly executed, this sure might lure in some new public.

    This looks really good.

However, I define 'really' as £19.99. This looks £19.99 good.

It is not £425 good, which it would need to be for me, as so far this is the only thing about PS3 that has got my excited. I guess I'm getting sentimental in my old age.

Of course, for those of you with enough other reasons to buy a PS3, this is probably 'free' good. If that makes sense.

    I'll get my coat.

Obviously, you didn't watch the full demo, Yossarian. In this game, you can easily edit anything from within the game engine and share it online. Just like a PC online community, but much more easily and on a console.

If you don't find that impressive...
  • Biggles #17 5 years ago

"where did you find the pink paint?"
  • mkreku #18 5 years ago

Woah, that is actually the most impressive game video I've seen of a PS3 game. And it's a game about dolls.. :|

    Still, it looks bloody fantastic.

Sony lost in OppositeLand... what the hell is going on? They are doing things RIGHT! Amazing.
  • ChrisBen #20 5 years ago

Meh. One game does not £42 make. It'll take a LOT more than this to convince me of the PS3's worth.

Place your bets on any chances of this game looking remotely like that video

[edit] Okay, now I've seen Pac-manAteMyWife's link I'm convinced. I didn't realise the guys from Ragdoll Kungfu were on this. It looks like the best thing sony ever did was getting independant games creators involved - just like flOw

Erm... stylish... in a video... but, unimpressed from a usage/gamers pov. Still, good ppl behind it so it could be more than okay!

Try cheaper it's a PSN title.

And then whoever makes the highest rated levels get their levels put on a retail disc and sold to the poor soles who don't have their PS3's connected to the internet.
