We've all seen it by now. :)

It is brilliant though, it's so simple to use, yet let's you do so much.I will definitely be making a level when I get it.

It's more of a proper sandbox than any GTA.

Looks great. Hope it plays well. Who knows it might even sell me on the PS3.

I know it looks great and the publishing bit is cool, but are they really going to pull a complete game out of this? Most people like playing games, rather than making them. Unless a professional outfit creates a game out of it, it won't be all that good. 99% of all user-generated content is crap.

It will be released with a fair amount of pre-built content. Although I'd expect SCE to really encourage people to create their own levels.

In LBP, making the game IS the game.

"99% of all user-generated content is crap."

True, but if you've got millions of users, 1% of good stuff is still a lot (think YouTube). For LBP to work, the tools should provide enough room for creativity, there must be a significant amount of users/players and it must be relatively easy to spot the few diamonds between the crap. It's challenging but if Sony can make it work, pay-off might be worth all the trouble.

You do know about the mod community on the PC right? .... RIGHT?

    RIGHT!?!

Also the demo later this year, will allow the best player created content to be on the retail disc. From what I gather anyhoo.

Very nice... very pleased to see something different and beautiful for a change! Pete Smith eh... Sony keeps it in the family doesnt it :) Nice work chaps.
  • Carrybagma #13 5 years ago

I accept the YouTube and mod points. I doubt they'll raise the game above the level of 'underground' hit though - unless Sony promote content as others suggest. How can they not!?

Success or not, it'll certainly be the most interesting project I've seen on a console. I wonder how Microsoft will respond? They've yet to come good on the original user-generated content suggestions (decal shops etc).

ed: Oh - and I still take the idea with a wee pinch of salt. It is Sony after all.. :o)

Aren't Micirsoft doing user generated content to some extent with Forza 2.

I think Sony is going to softly persuade as many as their own devs to do this user generated content thing to (labelled Game 3.0), they're taking a nice initiative with Singstar, LBP and Home which all come out this year, i can see Sony do a similar thing with Polyphony and Gran Tursmo (although they will be branded as copying Forza oh well.)

Hope to see more stuff like with the Eye-toy which will obviously be compared to youtube.

Pure brilliance. Best idea on the system bar none.
  • the_dudefather #16 5 years ago

for the first time ever, I really want a PS3, and i hope there are a couple of other decent games out in about a year (the time this comes out) to justify the purchase

    LBP has got me intrigued.

I like the 'sandbox' idea - especially in an environment in which I can happily sit down with the kids and put together some sort of puzzle with premade content as weel as personally imported images etc. Kind of Lego-Fuzzy Felt and Morph all rolled into one.

I can see this being a neat little app which could appeal to school-age kids as well as adults.

Granted a game designer (generally!) is far better equipped to fill out a game experience than a humble user but that same thinking doesn't stop Halfords doing a roaring trade in useless autoparts for the amateur car designer ;). Hmm, on second thoughts thats not an analogy that does my argument any good!

It really looks fantastic. And there's so much going on, physics, lighting and all that, plus some richly detailed textures, it really is a good advert for the PS3 brainpower.

    Best. Game. Ever. Possibly
  • fluff_the_tiger #20 5 years ago

looks good, after playing a lot of crackdown I've changed my attitude to co-op gaming. Hopefully there will be a little more to this game than grab things and jump.

From the trailer it looks like they are going for a DIGG like voting system which should keep the good content at the top of the level pile

THE game. The concept is just amazing. Besides, the characters are soooooooo cute ;D

This and MGS4 would be the games that would sell me the PS3.
  • Gulag #22 5 years ago

I've seen or heard no reason to even consider the PS3 as anything other than a complete flop.

I've just had my mind changed.

    Future. Of. (console) Gaming.
  • CHAOS_BROON #23 4 years ago

ps3 rules with this and mgs 4! original and hardcore!
  • KreyAtiv #24 4 years ago

That was a good demonstration. Definitely looking forward to this game.
