I think it will suffer the same setbacks as all these styles of games do.
I think it will lose cohesion by the time you conquer your own planet.
I hope I am wrong though.

as for the graphics, a little to cutesy maybe but this mainly being aimed at the current sims players.
Will be intersting to see if it lets you jump in at different stages of evolution rather then always starting from the beginning.
But then if it's as big as they are suggesting you could still be playing the same game 6months to a year after starting
