GC: Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising - Teaser

Published 22 August, 2007 Duration 1:07

The vast open environments of Operation Flashpoint marked a change in the simulation of warfare. Suddenly a new level of realism, harsh and unforgiving, was the standard for wargaming. Dragon Rising is all that, only more so.

I have very high hopes for this. I loved the original OF.

    Hope that's all ingame graphics.

Original has to rate as one of my fav PC games of all time, right up there with Far Cry, with OF being the game I have spent the most time on, on the PC.

Some of the way's I completed the missions were very creative, and the package was well ahead of it’s time with the level of detail in it’s sandbox implementation.

Other missions that sound like run of the mill, where I stole a car went ahead of the platoon, then went round the town, came from the back, killing everyone Rambo style; sound like a piece of piss in most games, for those that have never played it, it is a major achievement killing 27 soldiers alone on a mission.

    "All" "House" "3 O'clock" ha-ha glory days.

    Can’t wait. Crosses fingers.

Err this is the codemasters "version" of OFP. The true sequel is being made by Bohemia (Armed Assault 2)
  • James173 #6 5 years ago

Indeed NAC; I hold no high hopes for this game atm - being released on PS3/X360 means that being slow and realistic would surely only be possible if the PC version was significantly different to the console versions, which is obviously expensive to do, and therefore unlikely to happen.

I can see where the FMV claims are coming from, but CM have released a few screenshots with a similar level of quality in them. I think it might be using the in-game engine even if it's had some heavy post-processing.

Given how crap and Five-year-old-game-in-ill-fitting-dress Armed Assault was, I have more faith in this than I do in Bohemia's pathetic efforts. Which isn't a great deal.

Not enough games about these days like the original OFP. I'm betting the Codemasters won't stick to the original principal of 'you choose how to complete a mission' and instead we'll be ferried through a near on-rails experience of high-impact graphically impressive events, because that is what sells. And it'll suck because of it.

Then again maybe I'm just getting my hopes down now, on the off chance that they get it right.

Really want this to be good. Shit subtitle though - Dragon Rising.

Should have great in-game graphics too, it's being built with the Neon engine; the same as DiRT.

shame about bohemia and CM falling out over the baby, but this at least sounds like a good little number.
Just want the cacky little dragon taken out of the Title logo! aagh
