    Doesn't even look that bad
  • 2scoops #2 3 months ago

Is that the 16-Bit remix of Machine Gun I hear?
  • dr_zoidthrob #3 3 months ago

Well. I did not expect that. Looks pretty good. :)
  • guernican #4 3 months ago

As trailers go, that was a good'un.

    @2scoops Yessir, i believe it is :)

Awesome. What's with all the skepticism in this thread? The Far Cry series has always been decent, though perhaps slightly flawed. I'm liking the approach they're taking with this guy just being a regular Joe, it'll be interesting to see how he ends up a bazooka-wielding killbot by the end of the game, and I can already see where they'll take the story - who's the bigger psycho? The monster, or the monster who hunts the monsters?
  • TazerFan #8 3 months ago

    Yes please.

Although, cool as the premise is, I hope they made some major improvements to the mechanics from Far Cry 2. But the fact that we're back on an island makes me smile.

How come the video isn't starting?
  • Ares42 #10 3 months ago

Great protagonist, awesome premise. Was already looking forward to Far Cry 3, but now I'm freaking stoked :p
  • trufflesonline #11 3 months ago

Is it just me or does anyone else take awesome trailers with a serious pinch of salt now after the dead island one that ended up being nothing like the game?
If far cry 3 ends up looking half as good as that trailer though I can't wait to try it when it comes out
  • mr_pink #12 3 months ago

Looks good actually. Not sure how this everyman type lead is able to fight so effectively but it's a nice change. I loved FC2 and would have been happy with more of the same, but hopefully they can throw in some new ideas and still keep it nice and open.
  • Ares42 #13 3 months ago

@trufflesonline well, to be fair Far Cry 3 was revealed with a full gameplay demo at E3 last year, so it's not like people don't know a good deal about how the game will be.
  • Lunatic4ever #14 3 months ago

now THAT was good! music was nice, too. Looking forward to some actual gameplay footage!

Good trailer. Really looking forward to this.
  • Nova1977 #17 3 months ago

It looks like a update of the original Far Cry, but WOW that was cool, dammit UBI sort out your pc DRM and you have my purchase.
  • LazyNinjaUk #18 3 months ago

    September? AWWWWW!!!!!
  • DiscoDave #19 3 months ago

    I'm interested. Looks great!
  • Delta1knight #20 3 months ago

that's it I'm a believer... As Hard as I tried I just couldn't get along with Far Cry 2 - loved the Hart of Darkness vibe it had - but the rest of the game... not so much. This looks fresh and exiting, something the previous game lacked, and its a really cool trailer. (admittedly a CG one)
Plus its release date is on my birthday, so clearly I'm going to love it!
  • SaintDaveUK #21 3 months ago

It's got a slight 'Uncharted' feel to it. Looking forward to this, I loved FC2.
  • ExplodingClown #22 3 months ago

Oh dear. So the protagonist is a hateful "Dude! Bro!" asshole right from the start? And I want to play as this person... why?

2:09 - ehhh. Fanservice wankage wasn't considered necessary in FC2, so the implausibly hot lady with the dreads bodes ill.

So this is currently looking to my jaded eyes like a shooty remix of 'The Beach' with some 'Hostel' vibes for good measure. Give me the Jackal's humane nihilism anyday.
  • TazerFan #23 3 months ago

    @mr_pink

Eh, I dunno, he looked like a normal guy pretty much at the edge of his abilities, benefiting from a lucky break or two.
  • Hieronymus #24 3 months ago

Was I the only one waiting for him to transform into a panther there?
  • RedSparrows #25 3 months ago

Be interesting to see how this plays out. I suspect it won't feel like FC2, which for me would be a shame. That is not to say, however, that I won't really enjoy this one too...

Gameplay video please; not this cg promo reel.
  • Ares42 #27 3 months ago

@CaptainQuint check the related videos? there's like a 7 min gameplay trailer right there.

  • dadrester #29 3 months ago

hmmm... I kind of agree with @ExplodingClown, what this had in slick trailer...err...ness it lacked in subtlety and character. Could turn out good and I instantly like the setting, just don't particularly empathise with the douchebag "traveller" in this very small snippet. Too early to tell, but for me FC2 was almost a masterpiece.
  • Toodle122 #30 3 months ago

Looks damn good. If this has the same free roaming elements that the second did just with more variation in terrain and game play I'm sold.

I may be alone on this but Christ I wish they'd stop using dubstep in trailers, I can't stand it.
  • Okamiwolf #31 3 months ago

This trailer sucked. Basically Hostel on a tropical island. I have no interest in playing a young drunk irresponsible American tourist.
  • Mrdynamic0 #32 3 months ago

    Better then Battlefield 3
  • goldbug #33 3 months ago

@ExplodingClown Hostel + The Beach = Turistas (AKA Paradise Lost). If anything, this is Turistas (AKA Paradise Lost) the Game.
  • MistaGav #34 3 months ago

Dubstep music and CGI aside I thought it was a really impressive trailer. The thing I'm most excited for is Vaas over anything else, he looks like a proper mental case and his performance in the last trailer was brilliant!
  • FogHeart #35 3 months ago

I'm also disappointed by the character. I will miss navigating the moral grey area in Far Cry 2 - hell, it made the game's plot stand out in a morass of FPS games where it's the righteous versus the despicable. Every character was out for themselves - you just had to play both sides against the middle until you could take down the Jackal who paradoxically ended up being the only good guy.

I guess we're back to black versus white, America-fuck-yeah FPS games :(
  • robbiejc85 #36 3 months ago

I know I know it's just a cinematic trailer but this seems a massive regression story wise... Seriously, buff 2002 xtreme sports wannabe 'everyman'? Are you joking? It's an incredibly lazy hook on which to hang the story. Now if they go 'the beach' on us ( book not film) we're rolling but otherwise I can't see how it can even come close to matching the obvious but successful heart of darkness vibe to far cry 2. Luckily for moaners like me no doubt they'll still nail the sandbox gunplay that just stumbled a little too much in fc2. September seems too far away!!
  • RedSparrows #37 3 months ago

@FogHeart Not necessarily. You have very little notion of how the game will go.

Perhaps they'll go in for the degradation of this main character. He was once a happy go lucky guy, now he's slaughtering goons and he's falling apart.
  • stryker1121 #38 3 months ago

This would have been the perfect summer blow-off game, so don't know if I'll be visiting this one on release day what with the heavy hitters coming out around the same time. Meanwhile, I've still gotta finish FC2, which has great atmosphere and interesting story but the game mechanics are a pisser.

    What an epic trailer!
  • craziii #42 3 months ago

far cry 2 sucked balls, hope #3 will be good again.
  • White_Westie #43 3 months ago

I love far cry, however as with any game I'm getting sick of seeing trailers and target renders that look nothing like the finished product / game.

I want to see game play and mechanices, not some artists impression....

    maybe I'm just getting old....
  • TheJuriel #44 3 months ago

A better Far Cry 2? YES PLEASE
  • 5h1nj1 #45 3 months ago

Awesome CGI. The shaky camera hides the flaws well so it almost looks real. :)
  • LittleRiver #46 3 months ago

Trailers are nothing more than marketing tools: you should never read much into any of them, however good they might look.

I'm clearly not the only one who thought the lead character needed a smack...
  • Virtual_Entity #47 3 months ago

This looks friggin' awesome. Roll on September 2012.
  • madjim #48 3 months ago

Complaints aside, I am sure it will be more "survival" than RE5. For a reason the trailer got me, although indeed it reminded me of Turistas.
  • TazerFan #49 3 months ago

Am I the only one who has come back to watch this a few times already? It definitely got under my skin.
