Published 10 February, 2009 Duration 1:09

The first gameplay footage of Codemasters' new racer Fuel. Quite the looker, and apparently with the expanse to match. Keep an eye on this one.

I like the look of this. As long as it is smooth.
  • Cadence #2 3 years ago

    Maybe.....it's too big!
  • Rash' #3 3 years ago

LOL! For a change we agree on something Dizzy.
  • gingerlink #4 3 years ago

If this recycles the damage and AI from GRID, that's a damn good start
  • YobRenoops #5 3 years ago

Looks like an updated Motorcross Madness with cars. Especially the handling.
  • Bealsy #6 3 years ago

Looks gooooooooood. Codies engine and physics is perfectly suited to such a game :)

All a game like this needs to succeed is lots of different vehicles, tracks and destruction :)
  • Beano #7 3 years ago

Boring. Give us some Formula One footage instead. Hopefully they won't screw that game up like they did with GRID and DIRT.
  • PearOfAnguish #8 3 years ago

    Looks sexxxy *unf*
  • glaeken #9 3 years ago

Tis looking nice I must say. The handling model also looks like my sort of handling model.
  • Eraysor #10 3 years ago

No idea how good the driving model is, but the environment looks brilliant.
  • Widge #11 3 years ago

Yeah this is on my radar too now! adding to smooth, I hope it has an interesting world to participate in and its not a big expanse of bland.

This is exactly what I want. A new Motocross Madness. If they can deliver something like that, I'm sold.
  • shamblemonkee #13 3 years ago

i've been praying for a new version of motorcross madness for so long, the orignal was great fun and cirminally underrated.
  • Farfarer #14 3 years ago

Looks fantastic. Lovely particle and weather/atmosphere effects.

And arcadey handling, always good :)
  • espy #15 3 years ago

That looks surprisingly... dramatic for a racing game. Almost came across like some post apocalyptic road trip/speed demon/desert sessions/race to the end of the world-thing. Very nice.
  • smirny #16 3 years ago

Well that certianly piqued my interest!
  • espy #17 3 years ago

I just read that they were actually going for that post-apoc-vibe :D Yay me and my impeccable powers of observation.

    Brilliant! Fallout racing :D
  • AaronTurner #18 3 years ago

Great remix of Faith by George Michael!
  • UncleLou #19 3 years ago

    Quite impressive.
  • Snooz #20 3 years ago

Insert fun driving physics and I'm a happy boy!
  • rhubarbandcustard #21 3 years ago

Am so looking forward to this. Love open world environments.

Bought Baja on day of release as it looked to offer a huge open environment and that turned out to be my worst video game of the year.

Will wait for the reviews, but will remain optimistic that this game delivers.

BTW, first dlc pack should include a vehicle capable of flight (think Mad Max 2 had some kind of bastardised microlight - a great way to explore such a huge map.)
  • Erinan #22 3 years ago

Looks meh. Shadows look terrible as well.
  • agparrot #23 3 years ago

apparently, rhubarb, there are already helicopters - but I don't know if this is an ingame helicopter, or a mechanic to cover many miles at the click of a button without having to drive it manually.
  • Miths #24 3 years ago

Looks pretty cool - and BIG :).
I don't care as much about driving physics off road as I do on tarmac so even if it's the typical crappy, weight less, pivot point Codemasters shit (but they aren't developing here are they, just publishing?), I probably won't mind all that much.

Only if you foolishly ignore the scope. I am sure one could render the inside of a cardboard box with photo-realistic quality and the best textures ever.

I wasn't remotely interested in this ...(Jeremy Clarkson pause) ... until now!

Interest piqued. Not sure how the 360/PS3 will deal with this though. Large install I guess for PS3 and recommended install for 360?
  • shamblemonkee #28 3 years ago

codies are adamant they haven't used central pivot for , oh about eleventy billion games...

awesome tune...! does anyone know the title and artist...? please...!

    cheers...
  • Scimarad #31 3 years ago

    That looks pretty great, actually.

It's amusing that all the screenshots and previews are greeted with indiferrence but as soon as there are some pretty moving pictures it all seems to change.

stupid me...! just saw it again at the end of the clip...

    cheers...
  • Rodchenko #33 3 years ago

As long as they lose the usual central pivot turning mechanism then this looks like it's going to be all gravy.

Seconded. Don't mind so much for this one, though, but if their upcoming F1 cars will also pivot around the center I am going to get really angry as I am quite bored of F1CE by now.

This looks a bit like the bastard child of Motorstorm and FarCry 2, tbh.

Burn My Shadow by UNKLE. From the War Stories album, but there are lots of remixes, not sure which one this is exactly.

    edit: Oops :)

Is this actually being developed by the codies or are they just publishing?

FWIW, Codmasters have said repeatedly in the past that their games haven't used pivoting for years.
  • JonJJon #37 3 years ago

Oh dear another codemaster driving game, so more driving in tar and terrible coding, when will they go back to DRIVABLE games not bits of unplayed software
  • DaveLev #38 3 years ago

its only published by Codemasters not developed by... so comparing it to GRID and DIRT might not be the best idea as its developed by completly different people in another country.

I've always thought this looks good but now every one else does too! YAY

People didn't like Dirt or Grid? Why? I can perhaps understand Dirt but Grid is one of my all time best racing games. This looks interesting too...
  • theloz #40 3 years ago

I thought GRID was a lot of fun. DIRT's handling was terrible though. Pretty interested in this so far, especially after the Motocross Madness comment!
