Classic COD..bombard you with action everywhere to create the illusion of immersion.

though ive been waiting for a good jungle warefare game for some time..
  • HarryB #2 2 years ago

Looks OK, nothing to go crazy about.
  • elephant_stone #3 2 years ago

So i'm guessing this doesnt continue the MW2 story.....and its a Treyarch production...hmmm
  • LazyNinjaUk #4 2 years ago

Ok I'll be honest, I'm alot more intrigued by this now than when it looked like it was going to simply be COD: Vietnam.

Looks like it could be set across possibly late 60's through to 80's and possibly beyond?
  • Beano #5 2 years ago

Hopefully COD Black-Ops will not be too successful - otherwise Trayarch top-employees risk to get fired...
  • Bangaioh #6 2 years ago

I'm a bit fed up of all this US army brainwash...
  • tachometer #7 2 years ago

This looks fucking incredible! Those Respawn guys are gonna be shitting their fucking panties!

it maybe a "Treyarch Production" but the code is still Infinity Ward.

The end of the day IW designed and made great games. Now that some other team has the code will they be able to take it to the next level, and actually develop it into something that can put them on the map, or will they remain a company that is just picking at the bones of another company to try and squeeze as much profit out the brand? Until we have another 5 CoD with the only thing that separates them is the storyline?
  • Rodchenko #9 2 years ago

Looks quite interesting, to be honest.
  • 00.00.01 #10 2 years ago

Ok, viewed video almost frame-by-frame (still way too much info...), pretty sure i've seen the following:
-Military lab, man in white 'doctor' outfit+armed soldier.
-WWII Japanese soldiers (dying in Atomic Blast?)
    -You're the (co)pilot of a Phantom, shooting at jungle. 2-seater plane, Co-op??
    -Space-suit+Black Bird spy plane.
-Spec Ops in snow covered mountain area.
    -The voice-over setting has a counter dated/set to 2010:03:2.
    .
Bring on the story line...My guess, you're 'playing' the memories of a Spec-Op secret project soldier, starting in WWII, Cold War Russia/Cuba, Vietnam/Korea, 80's Afghanistan, 90's Irak/Kuwait.
  • fknetwork #11 2 years ago

    @Mavrik123
Go away you silly fool, World At War still pis*es over MW2, Treyarch are fantastic at making maps, World At Wars maps are still amazing, look at the state of the new MW2 map pack the maps are terrible.
  • DUFFKING #12 2 years ago

I hope they're realised that the best bits in CoD were always the spec ops missions rather than the all out action ones.

Expecting a huge game. Hang up, Treyarch!
  • JMB #15 2 years ago

    Time Travelling Robot
  • CARL05 #17 2 years ago

After vowing never to go near another Call of Duty game after MW2 I find myself drawn to this. I can't wait to see the trailer analysis - they've definitely got their work cut out for them in this one.
  • CARL05 #18 2 years ago

    Wait a sec... 00:41 - 00:42 - That's not 60s-90s, that's futuristic.
Space suits and what looks like the concept art for Virgin Galactic!
  • AphoticCosmos #19 2 years ago

Yay, more shallow, poorly scripted AI set-pieces masquerading as excellent game design.
  • makariel #20 2 years ago

Do I spot a young Chuck Norris at 00:38?

Anyway, looks like Vietnam to me. Jungle and UH-1 Helicopters just give me this Apocalypse Now-vibe. The SR-71 plus full pressure suit fit into that time as well.
  • UKLL #21 2 years ago

The multiplayer for W@W was superb so I can't wait.

I love the mutli for MW2 but it can be infuriating at times.
  • Beano #22 2 years ago

The last three COD games have been letdowns for me and it puzzles me that they are so incredible popular. Hopefully Black-ops will change my mind on the franchise, but I doubt it.

I'm so bored of Cod. So it's gonna be a MEH from me.

  • Dashnak #24 2 years ago

    @Bangaioh
though i don't agree with how you've phrased it i agree with the sentiment... would be nice to play a game in some other nation's army for a change. I'm waiting for the game where you're a soldier in the army of the Republic of Armenia liberating Nagorno Karabakh from Azerbaijan.
  • gremly #25 2 years ago

Hehe, For a moment i thought the dude in the trailer speaking was Garus :p
  • Iain815 #26 2 years ago

Well, fuck the lot of you, I'm well excited by this.
  • Seabeast #27 2 years ago

All these ' im so bored of cod ' people still read every single article and watch all the trailers it seems.

Yet if they were so bored, they would not read/watch anything on them? surely?

MW2 wasnt half as bad as people make it out to be, sure it had its issues online and the single player was a little over the top, but still better than most shooters.
  • Beano #28 2 years ago

"All these ' im so bored of cod ' people still read every single article and watch all the trailers it seems.

Yet if they were so bored, they would not read/watch anything on them? surely?"

Maybe because people still hope the new COD games will be better and not completely dismissing them in advance?
  • VibratingDonkey #29 2 years ago

Well this certainly looks like a game.
  • Lunatic4ever #30 2 years ago

yeah, because of some strange reason so many people are mocking on mw2.
seriously, how can one be so stupid and say the game isnt good?
it definitely IS a well made game with a good atmosphere to it.
I bet most of those who moan about it bought the game theirselves and enjoyed the campaing
just as much as i did. Sure it weas short but it was...really cool!
  • ShinMegami08 #31 2 years ago

Probably you're playing as a specops-soldier who survives Vietnam, has then to fight in Afghanistan against the russian troops. Then you kill your general (00:54!!) because he is a creepy dude and have to run away to China, where you stop the chinese from launching a nuclear rocket on South Korea. You get rehabilitated and go to fight in level seven against a clone of the general you killed, who is seeking revenge and plans to blow up the sun (frame number 211 in the trailer!!! I've seen it first!!).
In level ten you're in San Francisco and have to fight against an armada of enemies (mostly russian, some asian) who want to destroy the Golden Gate Bridge.

    THIS GAME ROCKS!!!
  • sir_smooch #32 2 years ago

Have to say it looks really interesting, a lot more than i thought it would. Will hold judgement till i see more and get to play some demo code though.

    0:01 Explosion
    0:03 Explosion
    0:10 Explosion
    0:12 Someone dies
    0:15 Explosion
0:16 A lot of people die
    0:20 Big Explosion
    ...

Well i liked WOW, it wasnt the best game in the world, it felt retro, but still it felt like a COD game. While I really didnt enjoy MW2 at all....

right from the start there were things that really bugged me (dont know why)... silly stuff like the radio being so loud and drowning out the character talkings, big lumps of rubbish flying around, no sense of control of the characters in the first few levels, being on top of a vehicle and it just being a on rails doesnt matter what you shoot it makes no difference.... etc etc..

But was that because of how the guys were treated, or just how the game was made, i really dont know. But i know that I wont be rushing out to buy this game (I wont for MOH either)... these were games i used to get day 1 on PC... ah the good old days of COD/MOH... lets hope these ones this year bring back some of the glory days, but with the year releases of COD, I am not convinced.

No doubt this will be a spectacular one-off campaign playthrough where everything worth seeing will be seen in that playthrough. These games are designed as rollercoaster experiences, which is fine; but I prefer more of a sandbox approach.

And then you have multiplayer, which no doubt will be huge, after all - Treyarch have proven their salt, as an underrated developer of this sort of Michael Bay-esque fare. good luck to 'em, but I'll stick with me Halos and me Bad Companies.
  • Dizzy #38 2 years ago

    Trailer made by Michael Bay?????
  • Spekingur #39 2 years ago

Maybe they are hinting that the Cold War is still going on!
Except nowadays it has more cake.
Or pie. It's all Bob anyways.
  • BritishBlue1 #40 2 years ago

I hope they get rid of killstreaks, heartbeat sensors, akimbo and the damned instant-kill-from-10-feet-away commando perk. Every time they release a new CoD there seems to be something imbalanced about it.
The killstreaks in particular are a real pain; Search and Destroy is my favourite game mode but the insidious reach of killstreaks reaches even here. I was playing on Derailed yesterday and I was the last man standing along with one other enemy player who had 5 kills & 0 deaths, I made it to site B, planted the bomb and readied myself for a final showdown...except...nothing...he didn't show and simply let the timer run down and lost the round for his entire team.
Of course I should have realised that he was 2 kills away from a ZOMGHARREIR! so he threw the entire round away just for his stupid, stupid killstreak...

Treyarch aren't actually *that* bad in the mutiplayer department. Their maps are very well designed, certainly better than IW's in my opinion. Nazi Zombie's was really fun; it just needed more maps that weren't DLC. The final Hounds killstreak was pretty inspired I thought, powerful but not overpowered. You could fight them off if you had your wits about you, it was always quite suspenseful when the enemy hounds were roaming the map.
  • TitusCrow #41 2 years ago

Redstanza that irony you were using there was of an incredibly higher caliber than I m used to. I'm sorry, I cant get a reading on this thing.
  • CaptainQuint #42 2 years ago

Yeah, he's actually got me convinced by the awesome of his irony. Mind you, I've always thought IW were overrated anyway.
  • muscleblade #43 2 years ago

November eh? Im playing the much better game (also GOTY) Halo Reach in November so im not interested. Sorry Activision.
    Next time perhaps.
  • muscleblade #44 2 years ago

"All pre-rendered from the look of it."

Did anyone say it wasnt. This is about showing whats the game is about nothing else. You know, a teaser.
  • jack_klugman #45 2 years ago

Has anybody speculated that you might be playing Captain Price, experiencing famous missions he's been involved with through his past, as he relives them whilst interogated?
  • Timbercottage #46 2 years ago

    Call of Dun't care-ty...?
  • aidey6 #47 2 years ago

Looks good, but I would expect nothing less as that's the job of a trailer.... I wonder if Activision are going to try and put a £54.99 on it this year too, if so what price will the various supermarkets charge
