no one wants to sell you anything illusion, you smell of poo.
the AI in fear was fnatastic and got the beeter of me by flanking more than once, hopefully the sequel will be up to the task

That's precisely how to sell something to me : specific examples supported by segments in the demo. Not fanboy wetting-his-pants marketing drone or cool dude "producer" blabbing on in a shrill voice about how "awh-sum" the game will be.

I started as a fanboi drooling on Fear before playing it. The original was mostly narrow corridors and I almost never got the time to see them fleeing for cover, tipping over desks or flanking me. Also like every game since about '98 have enemys standing behind a corner and popping out to shoot at a predictable rate, nothing new here.

The vid showed nothing on AI in the 0.7sec clipping rate they had. Enemys throwing grenades at you from cover, nothing new.

Having gone back to hl2 I'm actually starting to accept heavy scripting as welcome as long as it's done with the variety of hl2, and not doom3 (enemy spawning behind you almot all the time)

@Snooz, I do agree that the AI in Fear #1 wasn't stellar but it still was a notch over the rest of the games out there. Also true was that it didn't have sufficiently open spaces to show off its abililties.

In this particular vid, this I like : 1) you at least see some of the bots _retreating_ 2) moveable cover 3) wider spaces

omg... now include like a terrorist hunt instant action mode in an office!

@tessa: Agreed, it's alright, but it wasn't that obvious when playing the game. I actually think the original also had the AI backing up and shooting at me with a single hand while running away. If that was AI or just a triggering animation when they come inside a defined radius I don't know.
