Looks okay - nothing bad, phew!

great sense of speed, and the sun shining through the trees is a nice touch although it's a bit distracting (maybe hopefully there's realtime lighting and weather).

the steering was very smooth in that lap. makes me wonder if the driver was using the stick or the sixaxis thingmajig.

engine sounds a bit tacky, or is that just me?
  • T4RG4 #6 5 years ago

No, its not just you. The engine sounds (mainly gear change) a little wrong ;)
  • Kostabi #7 5 years ago

It could just be the compression in the video making it sound slightly off. At least I hope so.

Meh. Apart from that really annoying sun glare effect, from this video I couldn't tell the difference between this and PGR3 on the Nurbergring.

A barren place like Monza isn't difficult to make look good, although PC versions often get crippled at the start thanks to the pit complex/grandstands causing massive frame dropage.

The real test will come from seeing the detail of the F1 cars in a pack leaving the startline with no slowdown. A cockpit-less quick lap video doesn't really give anything away - except for the annoying sunglare feature.

Agree: apart from the sunglare effect, graphically a lap of Monza circuit with no cars does look almost identical to the one shown in old Formula1 by Psygnosis (now SCE) - for PC and 3DFX cards, 640x480, year 1998.

Obviosuly the video here is compressed and doesn't show the benefits of higher resolution.

Anyone know of any formula one team that have ever tested at dawn/twilight?

MasterControl Program "Formula1 by Psygnosis (now SCE) - for PC and 3DFX cards, 640x480, year 1998."

Symmetry "I couldn't tell the difference between this and PGR3 on the Nurbergring."

hahaha Bizzare creation created the 1st 2 F1 games on the PS1 and if remeber rightly. They actually used bezier curves for the corners as oppossed to rightangled polygons. Something not repeated in many games many years later.

Looks lovely in first person with no other vehicles on track, but the trailers with other vehicles look pretty wrong, serious case of uncanny valley.

This is NOT in first person, surely it's a bumper cam. First person would be in the in car view, where you can see the wheel.
