    FAP FAP FAP.

    Additionally, the Michael Bay approach to taking care of the sniper seemed quite amusing :)

    Damn recon campers - they shoulda put a tracer dart on him. Spent an entire match last nite on BC2 sneaking around just using the tracer on Oasis, didn't give away my position and it's pretty much a death sentence if you plant a dart on someone's head - they're permenantly marked on radar for your team. Only gun I had was 50cal sniper with a red dot to hammer the chopper hoes! Christ I want BF3 so much.

    Aside from the absolutely stunning visuals, that looked marginally less impressive.

    Why do I need to follow my squad around until I am arbitrarily given permission to shoot at him - specifically with the gun they give me, as well? And that is one shitty sniper, if he can't hit at least two heads sticking out from 'cover'.

    Still a day one purchase due to what I don't doubt will be stellar multiplayer, but the singleplayer campaign just looks like another CoD affair.

    Hopefully these slow paced scripted moments are scarce. When playing them they're just quite dull, but as long as they don't frequent the game and the game concentrates more on open spaces and player freedom then this will rock my socks.

    Anyone else think the best part is the music when they show the Battlefield 3 sign at the end?

    Because you're not rambo and it isn't COD maybe? From what I gather - one aim of the single player is to familiarise newbies with concepts and tactics necessary to do well in BF (multiplayer). Taking cover - moving into position, keeping distance between you an teammates, using the right tools for the right job (rockets are good for snipers - even if they don't kill the sniper - they remove the cover and freak em out/make em scramble). The 'dowhatchulike' bits are in multiplayer. I'm sure the sp will be good - but as far as I'm concerned it's just gonna be a massive tutorial for multiplayer.

    Is that why they rocket the building because of one sniper? Is that why all footage revealed so far (including what was shown to the press) is about one squad going against all odds? I'll gladly be proven wrong by DICE, but so far it goes after CoD rather than against.

    It's not total freedom I want, I just don't want developers assuming I've never touched a video game before and that I have no idea how a door handle works.

    @ChthonicEcho - Games arent made JUST for you though are they? There has to be a method of introducing new players to the game, and this seems to be it.

    World's worst sniper.
  • bratmandu #16 1 year ago

    @ChthonicEcho

    Yea like I said - right tools for the job. Why spend ages trying to snipe at a tiny target when a rocket will get the job done quicker and cooler. It's not a COD cursor wielding contest - and notice how when the rocket hits the building - things get destroyed? Unlike COD where massive artillery can't even knock down a wooden hut!?
  • TheEarlOfZinger #17 1 year ago

    Sly joke at campers? Die you bastard, anyway.

    Looks good, voice acting not great but the game looks exciting as hell (if that is gameplay) imo
  • mashk #18 1 year ago

    Typical example of American heavy-handedness in the Middle East. A sniper shoots at them, so they destroy a building. Innocent women and children could have been living in there. Yet they don't consider this, and shoot an RPG in the general direction of the sniper.

    And they wonder why the Muslim world hates them.

    EDIT

    I don't like the filter either.
  • sir_tripod #19 1 year ago

    Single player = yawn. No matter how good the visuals are the AI always lets squad-based games down. Multiplayer is what anyone's going to buy this game for..
  • TheEarlOfZinger #20 1 year ago

    @mashk

    A studio created, cgi trailer (of a video game) is a typical example of American heavy-handedness in the Middle East, really?

    @Tripod

    Single player is more value for money when buying the game though. I will play the multiplayer for a solid year after finishing it. How is it a bad thing?

    Camping snipers on BC2 do my head in, i've been in squads with 3 snipers who just sit on top of hills not going for objectives, the ability to go prone is worrying.
  • charming_fox #22 1 year ago

    That ain't no cgi trailer, it's a thoroughbred in-engine motherfucker

    In the words of Martin Lawrence

    Shit just got real.
  • dsmx #24 1 year ago

    Why is the ability to go prone worrying? It's been in BF1942, bf:vietnam and bf2 it was fine there why would it make any difference now? But more to the point it's going to be essential on the PC, 64 player maps with destructible cover, there's going to nothing left at the end of a round to crouch behind.
  • ChthonicEcho #25 1 year ago

    @geeza20

    You make it sound as if it's impossible to introduce newcomers without patronising the more experienced crowd. Just look at Valve games.

    @bratmandu

    Fair enough. These are US marines, after all, and US nuked two cities in response to a destroyed harbour. Firing a rocket at a single target isn't too far-fetched, now that you mention it.
  • marcgiu #26 1 year ago

    where can I get some Puma and Gucci shit?
  • tobsen #27 1 year ago

    I am *all over* everything BF3-related, but I hope that the single player is generally less heavily scripted than the scenes in this video. Hopefully the next clip will be more exciting and open-worldly again.
  • solidSnake04 #28 1 year ago

    you call that a sniper ?
  • solidSnake04 #29 1 year ago

    1:43, thats what Killzone 2 promised to do... probably thats how good Killzone 2 promised to look like back in the day ;)
  • solidSnake04 #30 1 year ago

    I like the little details like not everyone got up and firing at the exact 0 count. And how the player straffed left a bit as if to avoid the sniper (maybe that was the player model trying to stay in balance after firing which is even better)
  • peppergomez #31 1 year ago

  • blackbriar101 #32 1 year ago

    I doubt sniping while prone will have twitch movement ability especially in a Battlefield game, long distance, non moving targets plus skill. It will interesting to see if they are tweaking bullet physics.
  • Pumpatron #33 1 year ago

    Visually it looks amazing, no doubt. Animation, lighting etc all top notch. But the gameplay doesn't look anything special to me, be lead through the game, told when to shoot, when to move. The game seems to want to play it's self.

    I'm sure the multiplayer will be awesome though. Which is what BF is about after all.
  • radioactvchpmnk #34 1 year ago

    Graphics are good, voice acting great (sounds like real troopers 19-22 year old men who are following training. Sounds like their real and actually there and not some hired actor. I like that ameture feel. Lets face it America's army is awesome but they're not scripted actors doing scripted Rambo things. They sound like real soldiers doing real things and who could die any minute in an unpredicted battlefield.) The destruto environment looks fantastic love the new engine. Its gonna feel real, things are gonna make sense and I'm confident COD is gonna get pwned. Two words: Go DICE!
  • Welshnutter #35 1 year ago

    COD u can kiss your ass bye bye I hate you. COD battlefield rules!!!!!!!!!!
  • watu #36 1 year ago

    Scripted, contrived and corridored singleplayer.

    Sorry if I sound like another hater troll, but I feel there is a groudswell of people who are over it and we have some money we'd like to give to big talented developers like DICE.

    I cant' believe that the guys at DICE who make gameplay so fun in multiplayer would offer up generic COD campaigne clones if the money men at EA didn't have their sticky strategising fingers in the equation, so I think we have to be the squeaky wheel that get's the oil.

    I have total respect for the people who love COD and Bad Company type "corridor" shooters- I get it that you are able to be pulled into that world and be entertained by it, but there are heaps of people who can't get past the fact that we can see the puppet strings all the time and it's just not enjoyable.....
  • Syrette #37 1 year ago

    Stop getting so worked up over a couple of fucking trailers.

    Of course they're contrived, they're promotional tools.

    Besides if this is anything like the Bad Company series, you'd be mad to get it for the SP over the MP.
