Additionally, the Michael Bay approach to taking care of the sniper seemed quite amusing

Why do I need to follow my squad around until I am arbitrarily given permission to shoot at him - specifically with the gun they give me, as well? And that is one shitty sniper, if he can't hit at least two heads sticking out from 'cover'.
Still a day one purchase due to what I don't doubt will be stellar multiplayer, but the singleplayer campaign just looks like another CoD affair.

Because you're not rambo and it isn't COD maybe? From what I gather - one aim of the single player is to familiarise newbies with concepts and tactics necessary to do well in BF (multiplayer). Taking cover - moving into position, keeping distance between you an teammates, using the right tools for the right job (rockets are good for snipers - even if they don't kill the sniper - they remove the cover and freak em out/make em scramble). The 'dowhatchulike' bits are in multiplayer. I'm sure the sp will be good - but as far as I'm concerned it's just gonna be a massive tutorial for multiplayer.

Is that why they rocket the building because of one sniper? Is that why all footage revealed so far (including what was shown to the press) is about one squad going against all odds? I'll gladly be proven wrong by DICE, but so far it goes after CoD rather than against.
It's not total freedom I want, I just don't want developers assuming I've never touched a video game before and that I have no idea how a door handle works.

Yea like I said - right tools for the job. Why spend ages trying to snipe at a tiny target when a rocket will get the job done quicker and cooler. It's not a COD cursor wielding contest - and notice how when the rocket hits the building - things get destroyed? Unlike COD where massive artillery can't even knock down a wooden hut!?

Looks good, voice acting not great but the game looks exciting as hell (if that is gameplay) imo

And they wonder why the Muslim world hates them.
EDIT
I don't like the filter either.

A studio created, cgi trailer (of a video game) is a typical example of American heavy-handedness in the Middle East, really?
@Tripod
Single player is more value for money when buying the game though. I will play the multiplayer for a solid year after finishing it. How is it a bad thing?

You make it sound as if it's impossible to introduce newcomers without patronising the more experienced crowd. Just look at Valve games.
@bratmandu
Fair enough. These are US marines, after all, and US nuked two cities in response to a destroyed harbour. Firing a rocket at a single target isn't too far-fetched, now that you mention it.

I'm sure the multiplayer will be awesome though. Which is what BF is about after all.

Sorry if I sound like another hater troll, but I feel there is a groudswell of people who are over it and we have some money we'd like to give to big talented developers like DICE.
I cant' believe that the guys at DICE who make gameplay so fun in multiplayer would offer up generic COD campaigne clones if the money men at EA didn't have their sticky strategising fingers in the equation, so I think we have to be the squeaky wheel that get's the oil.
I have total respect for the people who love COD and Bad Company type "corridor" shooters- I get it that you are able to be pulled into that world and be entertained by it, but there are heaps of people who can't get past the fact that we can see the puppet strings all the time and it's just not enjoyable.....

Of course they're contrived, they're promotional tools.
Besides if this is anything like the Bad Company series, you'd be mad to get it for the SP over the MP.
