Come again? That all sounds oh so very confusing.
  • Tonka #2 5 years ago

Sounds cool. When did this turn exclusive?
  • LeD #3 5 years ago

It's a PS3 exclusive in November 2007. PC and 360 versions to follow early next year. Unless more money was paid recently?
  • drunkymonkey #4 5 years ago

The problem with the whole "play dead" thing is that, considering it'll be a well-known feature, the Mantel forces are bound to shoot the rebels when they're down to make sure that they're dead.
  • BobsYourUncle #5 5 years ago

OMG is that you nekotcha. :D
  • Paulanator #6 5 years ago

Doesn't look as good as I thought it would. Kind of pales in comparison to something like Crysis or Halo 3.

Overall it has a kind of Far Cry: Instincts feel to it. Not for me.

But it could stand out on PS3, nothing else really like it and a pretty poor FPS selection. No doubt the reason it's been made a timed PS3 exclusive.
  • sanctusmortis #7 5 years ago

So come on then Nekotcha, have Sony paid off talk of the other platforms, or have they bought full exclusivity now?

I just want to know if it's an Assassin's Creed moment or a reason to buy a system. After all, I am patient enough to wait for a 360 copy...

wasn't it announced that it was only exclusive for a week?
  • JayPee #10 5 years ago

So innovative it has a helicopter gun sequence!

Despite all the schpeil this does seem like it could fall into the "generic FPS" crack rather easily, albeit pretty.

    /Resistance and UTIII weeps

Not to mention CoD4, Killzone 2 sometime in the future, Halo 2 Orange box, and god knows what other stuff that is coming.

My first reaction was rather: omfg, ANOTHER fps? And even exclusive to the PS3? :D

But I guess the fps is a genre so popular it can sustain this many ... I never thought the PS3 would become such an FPS laden platform though, wow!
  • mkreku #13 5 years ago

I thought it looked and sounded rather interesting. They're trying to implement features other than just run-and-gun. If it becomes interesting and useful, it could really help enhance the otherwise generic looking FPS gameplay.

I love the whole arrogence idea of the mantle dudes. I reckon if you play dead, they will not be able to see you or something.
  • WillTheSecond #15 5 years ago

Looks good, but I think I'll wait for a 360 version unless the PS3 suddenly goes down to £200 before Christmas.
  • TonyCocaCola #16 5 years ago

So you're waiting for the 360 version then
  • smurphs #17 5 years ago

Not having a gold live account means I'm more interested in this as a single player experience than Halo 3. Nice to see a proper looking developer too (good beard).

I just hope it's PS3 exclusivity doesn't bury it in the eyes of the masses, I reckon they could have risked putting it up against Halo 3 on xbox in the run up to christmas.

That would tie in with David's comments in the "How to sell your game" textbook video, TonyCocaCola - It was certainly what I thought after putting, 2+2 together. I'm on a positive about Haze, now. I hope that the warped view on things (a key differentiator) plays a prevalent part in the gameplay. I also like the idea that you have to try to work tactics, to be successful.

Multiplayer - nice, wide open arenas, but then you put in all the nectar, and more. Sounds great! :D And, vehicles too!
  • FWB #19 5 years ago

Interesting. I like the idea of controlled visuals. Hope it is heavily implemented.

    I must say, I'm a bit suprised.
That intveriew actually lessened my want for this game.

Everything that interested me (how nectar warps thier perception), I thought would be from the perspective of the player.

Now that I know that the player is just a rebel (and thus, there will be no cool perseption manipulation via nectar) and the AI will play like dummies, I'm less excited.
  • TonyCocaCola #21 5 years ago

I thought you could play as mantel on multiplayer though?
  • FLC #22 5 years ago

As I understand, you play as a Mantel at the beginning of the game and then you become a rebel after that?
  • The-Bodybuilder #23 5 years ago

    >"As I understand, you play as a Mantel at the beginning of the game and then you become a rebel after that? "

So an important plot twist has already been exposed?
  • Lukus #24 5 years ago

Mantles overdosing on Nectar isn't just an excuse to cover up rubbish AI is it?..
  • TonyCocaCola #25 5 years ago

If the matel troops have rubish AI then im sure the rebels would too. Im sure the game works exactly as they want it to. The man has a beard for gods sake, believe in him!
  • Les #26 5 years ago

"Mantles overdosing on Nectar isn't just an excuse to cover up rubbish AI is it?"

At least this game explains why the AI is rubbish... ;)

The outdoor sections appeared to look much better that the indoor ones, don't they?
  • Triggerhappytel #27 5 years ago

Release in November now? I thought it was September at E3.

Anyway, although this looks pretty okay and I don't doubt FRD's considerable talents, I think Nectar will not be as important or original as they obviously think it will, plus I also think the whole story with Mantel and the Rebels sounds a little generic, despite the fact they seem to be really pushing this aspect.

Anyway, four-player online co-op is awesome, and I think this could turn out good, despite my reservations. Will almost certainly be the best FPS on PS3. I'm probably more interested in this than Halo 3, to be honest.
  • Shanucore #28 5 years ago

Ooh, you cynical bunch you. :)

Sounds promising to me - can I get Nectar points with this?

Shame about the big fat spoiler but in this day and age, they're almost inevitable.
  • LukeFX #29 5 years ago

When I saw ingame footage I didn't think much of it, now though I am well impressed. Its going to be a fast game with loads of cool features, things that other games dont do.

I also cannot believe it has 4player coop, FUCK YEAH! Defo on my wishlist and I really cannot wait for this!
