As if yesterday's video wasn't enough to prevent you from ever entering a motor vehicle with any given member of the EG team, here's EGTV cameraman James weaving his way through the Norwegian mountains. Well, more swerving his way violently around the Norwegian mountains.

More tearing I see...
The game does look superb admittedly but it really is disappointing to see the engine can't run those visuals without unsightly issues like tearing.

It looks nicer than Forza, especially in the replays, and it has a in-car view introduced by PGR3.
But I find the lack of damage modeling offputing. It doesn't even look like you losing much speed.

Oh, and its the Swiss mountains, not Norwegian

If there was damage in this game then the graphics would probably take a nasty hit so personally I'd be happy to trade damage for cars that look THIS good.

Still, if Sony had put DS3 in the GTp bundle I might have biten, guess I 'll have to wait. Hurry up and put DS3 in as standard Sony MGS4 is coming....

Yes, because how it looks is far more important than how it plays.

What like the mini and the citroen are doing at the end of the second lap? Jostling from the entrance to the tunnel until the finish with the Mini looking like it has the upper hand at the end.
To be a little fairer the "race" isn't set up to see much of that. It is a rolling start with the cars already well spaced out and not much difference in the power - except with the players car.

admitedly yes it would've been an extra boost to the realism but at the end of the day its not really essential. cant wait for this!

It is for those who want an end to the 'bumper car' physics seen in GT games, where gamers can get around corners faster by bouncing off other cars. This is bad enough in the single player game, but it's not good to have this when racing online.
If I'm in the lead and approaching the final corner of the race online, I don't want some guy deliberately crashing into me, sending me into the wall whilst he gets a boost around the corner and wins!

Except the time penalty system is easy to abuse. For example (and this is from gamers who tried the demo for GT5 online) if a car is directly behind you (say in second place), you can break suddenly, causing him to crash into the back of your car, giving you a boost whilst he gets the time penalty (since the game doesn't determine whose fault it was for the collision)! I know there's no perfect system, but I feel that damage is better system, since it's fairer, less prone to exploits and so would lead to better driving online. And damage can range from none (or just cosmetic), to full sim, depending on gamer preference.

It is Switzerland - Hence the track being called the "Eiger Nordwand", the name of the mountain (Eiger) and north face which can be seen in the game. It seems Norway has been confused with the German for 'north face' Nordwand.

Actually, you're the only one here who sounds like a fanboy myke6699. Everyone here so far have been giving honest opinions about GT5 without turning it into a 'Forza vs GT' argument and without attacking companies and consoles.
See if you can be mature enough to do the same.
