Our resident Stig takes on the tight corners of good ol' Lunnun Tahn in this exclusive gameplay capture of GT5 Prologue. Yes, we know he's got the racing line assist on, but just look at how he consistently ignores it, carving his own unique racing line through the bewildered pack. Ahem.

That's pretty next-gen.
Also what's up with the collision at 3:50? They don't even touch.

Doesn't look that special, not that it was going to. Replay cameras are better than the rubbish ones in Forza2 (whoever put those in needs removing from the team).

Maybe that's why today's game a much easier than 15 years ago, as we don't get to "die" anymore..., next-gen ?

As for the "collision" at 3:50 - if you watch the race at that point rather than the replay it is not a collision at all. It's the driver swerving a bit as they adjust the camera view by the look of it.

yes exactly, its a sim so you are not supposed to crash, so if you do crash you are properly screwed just like if you raced a real car.
But in GT its bumper cars. I remember the previous gt on the PS2, where i would hit other cars just so i could get around a corner. looks like the same here.
also does anyone know if the game supports the logitech g25 wheel

@bagpuss, i used to think like you, couldnt see past PC, then i got into console gaming, and its a far sweeter world this side of the fence. Graphics arent everything...

Needs more character. Needs more oomph. It just looks too much like GT by numbers to me, which is basically why I lost interest in the series after the first game.
I hope Race Driver: GRID shows this game up.

I just picked up the disc version today and have been playing for a couple of hours - haven't noticed any screen tearing on my 1080p Samsung M87.
I haven't exactly been woved by the graphics though. Sure, they certainly look nice enough, but frankly also rather bland. Even the London track (and city courses are of course going to be a bit more interesting than race tracks in terms of visuals) doesn't really look much - if any - better than if not the London track, then several others in PGR4. Perhaps a bit sharper thanks to the higher resolution, and with better lighting effects, but overall I think something like the Quebec track in PGR4 in certain lighting or weather conditions looks vastly more dazzling.
In terms of racing game graphics, it certainly does look like Race Driver: GRID could turn out to be the new benchmark. And if GT5 isn't improved over GT5P in that department when it's released next year, I imagine there's even a chance it could end up looking if not dated, then certainly not anything out of the ordinary - aside perhaps from 1080p at 60 fps, but frankly I think I would take extra visual splendor at 720p, 30 fps instead.
I can't really remember the track list from GT4, but if we're going to end up with a lot of real life race tracks in GT5 - surrounded by grass, concrete and drap landscape, then it's probably not going to be all that impressive in the visual department.

Where I reckon GRiD would be light on realism, it will make up for it in visual flair, a superficial damage engine etc. So if thats what you're after, it'll be the game for you.
Having said all that, I'm checking PSN tonight and if GT5p is a nice price, I could be drawn in. Its nice to have games just sitting there on the HDD ready to go.
