I'd say it is just the video frame rate, not the game - there is no reason for the frame rate to be poor on this, even with all the bit and body parts flying around.

On xbox the frame rate was rock solid 90% of the time.

This game ran perfectly on my pretty poop computer when it came out, so unless they've screwed it up horribly the frame rate wont be a problem.

I thought the same, but your memory is playing tricks on you. Compare screens side by side, and the original looks distinctly ropey by modern standards.
