You weren't at E3. It's cool, I didn't bother either. But this is roughly what the cool kids saw behind closed doors.

It's encouraging that he mentions strong atmosphere, mood, and a good story as important parts of the game, but why do I have the feeling that it'll just play as yet another running and gunning game with lots of gore?

Yea they do that all the time in gaming.
Oh wait... NOT!

Maybe because the story is told by sheets of paper that happen to lie around in the correct order and tell you the stuff you need to know to progress.
That was bad game design even when it was used in Resident Evil, more than ten years ago.

It is about the gameplay dude.

Still interested nonetheless, looks good and scary!

Looks good though, just hope the gameplay isn't too dumbed down, high high hopes for this one.

Sami Jarvi is one of the best writers out there. The first Max Payne had some of the best writing of any video game to date. This will not be another Silent Hill, because the characters won't say retarded things like "must be some kind of child's toy," and he said himself that there would be a "smart story" behind it that gives reason for the horror, which is another thing SH didn't do.
Their methods were more along the lines of "ooh, this would be scary, let's put it in!"
Quit judging things before they're finished.
