I didn't notice the Q2 sound effects, but at least it doesn't have that 'sssschhhhhhhhhhhhhht' sound of the Doom 2 monster spawner thing that has featured in about 6000 TV programs and films.

Looks like a pretty good game though. I just wish my PC wasn't more suited to playing Quake 2 than that.
