Thinking about it a little more, I can't think of anyone other than EG and Jolt who are still around from the old TPF/Eurolan days. Everyone else has gone bust! Just shows you how hard it must have been and how well the boys have worked over the years.

Here's to another 10

Eurogamer's Halo review is one of the reasons I read the website. It's a well constructed non-event.

Tom was getting a bit teary at the end there, wasn't he? For a second, I thought he might get up and start hugging people.

If only it had ended that way. A slow-motion montage of blokes hugging other blokes. In a great big man circle. To the sound of Wind Beneath My Wings.

That would have been aces.

Very very cool video. Didn't realise how tight nit and how much of a family it was over there at Eurogamer.

Seeing as i've started writing a comment on the vid i might as well leave my Birthday message here too.

Happy 10th Birthday Eurogamer. I'm annoyed I only discovered this website existed around 2 years ago - it is by far the best gaming site around.... being the only one i can think of that is dedicated purely to us Brits (and how we get screwed over by pricing and release dates......fucking harmonix!)

But yeah keep up the good work and see you all at the expo.... i'll probably be by the Monster hunter tri stall all day.

I remember when the site launched.. Great times and I even talked to Gestalt about becoming a reviewer (sent him a review of Crazy Taxi on the Dreamcast as well!) but I was crap at it so he didn't want me. :)

I used to spend a great deal of time on a website called MPZ around 2000 which didn't last very long into the new millenium so its impressive to see this sites staying power. I've only been reading it a couple of years but I'll definitely continue to do so if it continues to maintain this level of quality.

Cool that it was started by 16 year old. I am a good 10 years older than you lot and this reminds me of a lot of the games stuff/projects that happened in the 80s :) Good stuff and well done!

Ever wonder why some games get previews and others dont? Ever wonder why "exclusive" reviews get high scores?

Come on, it's not rocket science.

"I still don't really understand how computer game websites make money"

Jesus christ, what is it with these conspiracy theories : \ Have you ever wondered why the background advert on Euro changes so often? It's because the site makes the vast majority of its money through advertising.

The editorial teams job is to get as many people reading the site as possible, and they do that through good unbiased journalism. The adverting teams job - yes, Eurogamer has at least three people working daily on this - is to secure advertising deals with publishers. That's where the money comes from.

Neither the editorial team or advertising team are answerable to each other...

I'm only really bothering to write this because of connections slow and the video is taking ages to load, but that's pretty much the gist of it.
