Can it evolve from shite to good?

This is a bit late isn't it?

It was an interesting speech, though. But I'm still a bit concerned about the part where he reckons that King Arthur (the Clive Owen movie) inspired Fable. Seriously? Oh dear.

Fighting on Fable 1 was complex? fuck off. Stop calling your players thick. it was simple AND awesome. *stop time followed by lightning and blade swings* there EASY.

@roquey - It wasnt so much that it was complex, more that the control system was. You ended up having to hold down various shoulder buttons and scrolling through various things in order to get the spells and skills you wanted - not particularly straightforward. I didn't have too much trouble with it, but my gf did - whereas she loves the Fable 2 system because she can do all the stuff she needs to really easily.

I'm with MediaMolecule on this - there's too much focus on more complexity in games. Making them more accessible to players is not a bad thing.

Easy to play, hard to master. The hallmark of any good game.

Sigh. Do game designers get all their inspiration from movies? I remember Deus Ex 3's designers saying they got their visual inspiration from movies too. Heads up people, movies have not thought of everything yet!

Is it so hard to come up with your own ideas, inspired by your own surrounding world or imagination? Miyamoto is inspired by things around him for example. And didn't the creator of Pokemon have an obsession for collecting bugs?

I'm not saying there's no place for this kind of cross-media inspiration, but our medium is capable of so much more than linear ones. I am just sick and tired of designers saying "Our look is inspired by movie x and the story by book y".
