I'm thinking of holding off on my purchase until someone makes a 2003/4 style "smooth" texture pack. It all looks horribly, horribly hard to focus on - way too much detail.

The level of detail in these things really is quite extraordinary these days.

Holy shit, another top class game for November!

Really looks quite excellent, a perfect compliment to Gears. Question is, what will rule on Live: this or Halo 3?

Phew, I know, there seems to be loads of top and i mean top games due in the 2nd half of this year.

re: Halo Vs U3...Halo may win simply due to the huge and often blind fan loyalty to the first two. You know the types...console gamers who think Halo is the be all and end all when they have not even played a FPS on PC..."half life, whats that? UT, System shock 2...eh?"

this ut looks fantastic. really hectic and fast again. this series really pulls all the pluggs again. realy like this. never was any good in it though, always get blasted to little bits online :(

I'm glad it's not just me who finds that! Having said that I used to find it with Battlefield 2142 but after playing more it seems my head has got better at 'relaxing' and ignoring most of the image I paid so much to get ;)

Am I the only person thinking that I'd like UT without all this vehicular nonsense?
  • Caimbeul #9 5 years ago

No, i'm no too keen on vehicles either.
  • YourMessageHere #10 5 years ago

Onslaught mode never had much more than gimmick status as far as I can see. UT should be about DM, first and foremost; the vehicles are for when you want a change.

The detail such as it is doesn't worry me overmuch, but what they appear to have done to established things does. What appeared to be the biorifle, minigun and flak cannon all seem totally changed, and my initial impression is not for the better.

I feel a little saddened to see them trading on being "the studio that brought you Gears of War", rather than UT or UT2003/4.

I remember when my mum destroyed my copy of UT bout six year ago and i havent played a UT since but im definitely getting this. My mum can piss off if she thinks "its too violent"

I used to think the same thing about UT2003/4 :I

IT better have brightskins out of the box this time :p

i loved the old ut's played the goty edition a lot. for me this has to much detail, seems hard to focus, could be just the video though.
