Snow and ice are out, replaced by a grittier urban/industrial setting. Giant bastard monsters are still a feature, though, and we like the idea of sewer octopuses.

Urgh, I just had the terrifying thought that every Japanese game in the next few years is going to look like Gears of War in a desperate attempt to be relevant in a Western dominated market.

The colour editing looks like Casshern.

And the huge cannon looks like the Krupp Dora she was a big girl wasn't she.
