  • XAleX360 #4 3 years ago

    Amazing. Now I just hope it comes out in 2010..
  • Matthew_Aaron #5 3 years ago

    wowowowowowo.
    Beautiful
  • Valis #6 3 years ago

    Not game footage. I've been fooled by Sony before.
  • Der_tolle_Emil #7 3 years ago

    The company I work for has their office pretty much exactly where the second town sequence was "shot" (Berne, Switzerland). The one with Alfa, Citroen and the two trams. Beautiful city that is.
  • muscleblade #8 3 years ago

    @BritishBlue

    You forgot about Forza. I bet Forza 3 will be better than GT5.
  • Triggerhappytel #9 3 years ago

    Ha ha, farticus and muscleblade are out in force, I see. You fellas keep telling yourself GT is shit, if it makes you feel better.

    Personally I've never been overly fussed on the series, but is funny watching you guys getting all aggressive XD
  • dsmx #10 3 years ago

    shame they didn't show the top gear test track.
  • Triggerhappytel #11 3 years ago

    "GT has not progressed at all since GT4 apart from a visual update."

    Really? And what was the full game like when you played it?

    How about - WRC, Nascar, damage, GT TV and online play to start with?
  • muscleblade #12 3 years ago

    @BritishBlue
    Not trolling, just guessing.
    We will find out soon enough.
    Im not buying either as i prefer Burnout type racing games.
    I just found it strange to mention Colin Mcrae and not Forza that has much more in common with GT5. Idiot!
  • muscleblade #13 3 years ago

    @Triggerhappytel

    Im not agressive at all mate. Dont know where you get that from.
  • IneptPercy #14 3 years ago

    did i see any gameplay then?
  • muscleblade #15 3 years ago

    "You fellas keep telling yourself GT is shit"

    I havent said anything about GT5 being shit. I just believe Forza 3 to be even better. Thats all.
  • XdarXideX #16 3 years ago

    Not that I have anything against GT as a series but the closer GT5 looks to CGI FMVs the less I like the look of it... and I can't figure out why. To me, games such as NFS Shift and Forza 3 are more visually appealing.
  • Triggerhappytel #17 3 years ago

    Fair enough muscle, I rescind my comment toward you. You weren't trolling, and I was a bit hasty with my criticism :)
  • Zomoniac #18 3 years ago

    Not game footage. I've been fooled by Sony before.

    Every time a trailer for a new GT comes out people say it's fake and pre-rendered CGI, and every time they're wrong. It looks closer to GT5P than CGI. If that was pre-rendered CGI then why would they make the human models look rubbish and badly animated? That's definitely real.
  • GreyBeard #19 3 years ago

    Hmmm I suspect that Sony are holding this back to coincide with the launch of the Slim PS3 ore whatever its called. It would make sense if you read between the lines of what Yamauchi said in his interview about wanting to get it out as soon as possible.

    Taking a wild guess it'll get announced and dated at TGS.
  • PapaSmurf630 #20 3 years ago

    Xdar I agree, I know I'll probably get flamed for this but I find the GT series very 'sterile'. I'm not trying to be a troll (I loved the first two) but after games like Forza 2 and GRID (GRID admittedly not a driving 'simulator' but nonetheless a very pretty game) I feel the series is missing something visually. There isn't any sensation of atmosphere at all.
  • Zomoniac #21 3 years ago

    Forza 2 didn't have atmosphere, it was just really ugly. But I know what you mean about GT now looking so good to the point of being almost perfectly photo-realistic that it's lost any sense of personality on the track. That GRID and PGR4 didn't look perfect allowed for more creativity in some ways.
  • El-Dev #22 3 years ago

    The fanbots are so pissed off today.

    I wonder if Sonys glorious E3 display has got something to do with it....

    Can't wait for Gran Turismo massive fan of the series.
  • MaxiSleep #23 3 years ago

    I don't want to care about GT5 and then they do this to me. Bastards.

    /Reserves copy
  • PapaSmurf630 #24 3 years ago

    Zomoniac I think you may be right. Perhaps 'sterile' was the wrong word. Clinical perhaps? Not to say this is a bad thing of course, I just feel with recent racing game releases, just copying a cars body down to the smallest detail doesn't really satisfy me anymore.
  • XdarXideX #25 3 years ago

    I think if they added a creative function like Forza's livery painting then GT would seem more appealing to me.

    Does GT5/GT5P have a driver's seat mode with a full cockpit? I've not seen any shots of one yet.
  • XdarXideX #26 3 years ago

    @El-Dev

    Fanbot? Is that your description of anyone with a difference of opinion to yours? You'll probably find many of the people commenting here "against" GT5 aren't actually xbox obsessed.
  • El-Dev #27 3 years ago

    Pimp My Gran Turismo?

    Hopefuly not, i'd rather race the cars than paint them.

    Yes there is a cockpit mode.
  • El-Dev #28 3 years ago

    Xdar, nope.

    But look at some of the negative posters on here and you'll see what I mean.

    Most of them comment more on PS3 articles than they do on the console they own.

    That's what makes them fanbots.
  • Triggerhappytel #29 3 years ago

    There is an in-car mode, and I doubt you will be able to decorate your own vehicles, since Gran Turismo has always been a love letter to the cars (hence no damage before GT5P), and the ability to design them yourself would kind of go against Polyphony's wishes. Still, something like taking a photo with the PS Eye and putting it on the bodywork might be cool, LBP stylee.
  • Corben_Dallas #30 3 years ago

    holding off getting PS3 until GT5 hits Europe.

    No GT5 = NO Ps3 Sony

    GET YER FINGER OUT SONY
  • kingnothing12 #31 3 years ago

    Well we all know which will sell in the millions and which racer will not, if you haven't guessed this is going to piss over forza 3.
  • XdarXideX #32 3 years ago

    @El-Dev

    Have they all openly expressed that they don't own a PS3 and that they hate the console? I do wonder about people who use this nerd slang to refer to people who don't like certain consoles. Calling someone a "fanbot" just perpetuates the crime you're opposing.

    There's nothing wrong with a livery editor to get people being creative. Especially no twhen you don't HAVE to use it.

    @Triggerhappytel

    I used to be heavily into GT and GT2 back in the day and I remember reading in a magazine about the no-damage issue. As was explained in the article it was more a case of the car manufacturers not wanting to have their products seen all smashed up by the public as they were afraid it would hurt sales. Bizarre if you ask me... maybe they were all smoking weed and getting super paranoid!
  • bad09 #33 3 years ago

    I shall be getting this and Forza 3, hell maybe some wheels to, I quite fancy the GT one!
  • Kode #34 3 years ago

    Fanboys make these comments worth reading!
  • Zomoniac #35 3 years ago

    @farticusmaximus

    I suggest you try again.

    Gran Turismo - 10.85m
    Gran Turismo 2 - 9.37m
    Gran Turismo 3 - 9.53m
    Gran Turismo 4 - 3.96m
    GT5 Prologue - 3.31m
    Forza 2 - 2.67m

    Forza 2 was substantially outsold by what most people see as a tech demo, and barely registers at all against what the first 3 GT games managed.
  • EvilBob_leeds #36 3 years ago

    Have they all openly expressed that they don't own a PS3 and that they hate the console?

    You must be new here! Farticus has. A Bunch of times. To the extent that you'd think the enitre Sony Corporation raped his mother and shot his father. Muscleblades a lot less rabid, but still no lover of the PS3.

    Looks fantastic. I'd be very surprised if it didn't play good.
  • HolyJebus #37 3 years ago

    Why do you people still reply to Farti, he's the biggest tool on this site. There's no point in trying to talk sense as he'll just alter whatever you say to make it sound idiotic. He's one of the few on my ignore list but still keeps popping up cause he manages to rope so many of you in to his BS.
  • rotmm #38 3 years ago

    @Zomoniac,

    Sorry, but your figures are way out. Did you just make them up? I'm almost 100% sure that GT4 sold nearer 10m than 4m.
  • #39 3 years ago

    Christ and there was me thinking the 360 was better at graphics.
  • Snooz #40 3 years ago

    Hmm, I'm interested in the WRC mode, wonder how elaborate that will be. Looks almost too good to be true, and aiming to please everybody except those here who want to race hovercars and spaceships backwards. Heh, I remember back in '98 whem me and a buddy had noticed the first GT and were discussing buying a ps1
  • Zomoniac #41 3 years ago

    @rotmm

    Just double checked the GT4 figures. You are right. It's somewhat confusing, as there a 3.96m confirmed and charted sales, throughout the UK, US and Japan, but there were over 6m copies shipped to mainland Europe (10.18m shipped worldwide) but these don't seem to have accurate sales figures and so aren't included in the total (clearly I wasn't paying enough attention), so yes the actual figure is close to 10 million, sorry about that.

    Which surely, if anything, only further emphasises my point. Forza 3 may well be brilliant, but given that every full release of GT has sold at least 4 times what Forza 2 managed, in sales terms it doesn't stand a chance.

  • mkreku #42 3 years ago

    I just watched that in 720p glory and it's looking f-ing amazing! I may need to get myself one of those PS3's one of these days..
  • KreyAtiv #43 3 years ago

    Looks good and finally they put damage into it.
    Nice addition of Nascar too, but hopefully they also added in skid marks along with the plumes of smoke and it isn't like the previous games.
    Soundwise too, I hope you can hear the difference than when the car is stock and fully tuned.
  • Zomoniac #44 3 years ago

    Now it's on the PS3 and it won't sell even half of any of the other GT's. Partly due to GT not being top of the pile anymore, and partly due to the PS3 not being top of the pile.

    It will sell a few million, but nowhere near it's predecessors.

    That I don't doubt for a minute. It isn't going to break 10 million, I don't expect it to. But I would be genuinely surprised if it doesn't outsell Forza 3. I reckon in the region of 6m GT5 to 4m FM3, but that's just speculation. Truth be told I don't really give a toss, I expect them both to be good games and I'll be buying them both anyway.
  • Darren #45 3 years ago

    The trailer could have done without the low poly count people at the start but otherwise it's a nice looking trailer. However, there is no actual gameplay footage in there at all, it's all from the replays by the looks of things.

    GT5 Prologue's replays run at 30 fps to allow for more detail and effects, in-game the races run at 60 fps with less detail. I suspect that this is also the case here and that the actual in-game graphics won't look quite so good. Time will tell.

    Is the game in playable form at E3 or is there only a trailer?
  • Goodfella #46 3 years ago

    Wow, I didn't think it possible but Fartipants has risen to all new levels of shit talk and offensiveness that I never thought humanly possible.

    Also, LOL at comparing GT5 Prologue sales to a full release of Forza. Hahahahaha!!
  • Darren #47 3 years ago

    Who is this Fartipants you speak of... I can't see any posts from such a person? :?
  • Beek4257 #48 3 years ago

    CAR DAMAGE!! WRC with CAR DAMAGE!! in GT!! Ok, I'm psyched. Except for the Nascar bit, the appeal of which is a complete mystery to me.
    I do hope it's out before say, Xmas 2010, please?
  • Goodfella #49 3 years ago

    We've already found the biggest excuse, you, for a human being. :)
  • Macross #50 3 years ago

    as an old GT fan converted to Forza, il be interested to see which wins and if GT5 can convert me back :)

    I have many fond memories of both games so its an even race right now I'll probably end up with both, but which I end up playing months after release and keep going back to im not sure - looking forward to both!
  • Zomoniac #51 3 years ago

    Horseshit. It's a full game minus the packaging.

    GT has not progressed as a series. The handling is horribly outdated as is the AI and sound.

    Minus the packaging? Mine has packaging. It had around 10% of the cars and tracks of what people expect from GT, it wasn't a full game by any stretch. And telling us GT has shit AI is like telling us that Gordon Brown is rubbish. Nobody is going to try and argue otherwise, it's stating the obvious. I won't defend GT's AI. And yes the handling needs a bit of a tweak, but GT5 is the first 'proper' GT game in a very long time, I'm sure they'll do a good job. And GT5P sounds great, you clearly have no ears.
  • obscured021 #52 3 years ago

    I like prolog a lot but the car sounds suck when you compaire it to GT evo or gtr2 on the pc.
  • Alatair #53 3 years ago

    GT6 will probably be photo-realistic looking at this.
  • Triggerhappytel #54 3 years ago

    farticus, please explain your reasoning for statements like "GT has not progressed as a series".

    How can the likes of Nascar, WRC, damage, real time weather, online, etc not be a progression of the series?!
  • EvilBob_leeds #55 3 years ago

    Jaysus people, stop giving Farticus oxygen. He's a fully paid up dribbling Xbox troll who wouldn't know an objective point of view if it bit his flabby arse.

    If Forza were on the PS3 and GT5 on the XBox he'd be doing his whinging twat routine, blathering on that the handling on GT was much more realistic. From his highly subjective experience of claiming to have driven some tin pot shit mobile around some of the very crummiest tracks England has to offer.

  • Zomoniac #56 3 years ago

    Apart from the army of fantards arguing that GT is a driving simulator. Other cars are an integral part of driving.

    No they are not. Other cars are an integral part of racing. GT is a great driving game, but a poor racing game.

    I am confident the handling in 5 will be a big leap forward, as Prologue was clearly just a massively scaled down GT4 made as good as photo-realistic. And if so, it will be an even better driving simulator.

    I'm less confident in seeing big improvements to the AI. If they can get the AI to a decent standard, and damage is implemented like this demo suggests, then we could have an incredible game on our hands. I hope they do, but I won't hold my breath.

    And I still fail to see your points. There hasn't been a proper, full-priced Gran Turismo game since before Forza 1 came out. Forza 1 was a terrible, terrible game. Ugly, drove like shit, choppy frame-rate, loathsome mess. Forza 2 did a good job of improving everything but the graphics (although the UI was shit), which were, and are, terrible. GT5 has been a long time in development, and if we can see similar on-track improvements it will be great.
  • dubdivision #57 3 years ago

    Pointless pre-rendered video, no gameplay, but I'll buy it any way.
  • funkateer #58 3 years ago

    "If they can fix the handling, AI and damage model then of course it should be a very good game."

    AI is not that important to me. To me it's about driving online against real opponents (no AI can compete with that), or driving against the clock.

    Damage will be in, so I'm not worried about that.

    About the handling, being an amateur driver in motorsports myself (mx5 cup races), I think the handling is not bad, especially with a good racing wheel it feels pretty accurate.
    You do need to turn off all the driving aides (like active steering and all that nonsense) and put the physics to 'professional' though, otherwise it really does feel a bit weird and unrealistic.
    The handling in GT5P was improved over GT4 imho. It was even improved from GT5 HD Concept to GT5P.

    So I'm quite confident GT5 will be fantastic. But what the hell is taking it so long...
  • Stepharneo #59 3 years ago

    Isn't the only point in Nascar, waiting for crashes...
  • layleeloo #60 3 years ago

    haha deary me - when will people learn not to respond to FM's ignorant, made up, fantasy and jealous rants. You should all know by now about this fuckwit. After all as he knows what will happen in the future he must be a very rich and busy man, yet spends his life writing on forums for a console which he doesnt own which he is jealous of. Just ignore the chick with a dick.
    Edited by 1 at 05/06/09 @ 09:48
  • muscleblade #61 3 years ago

    @layleeloo
    Your comment didnt make much sense too me. I dont think hes jealous. He really dont want a PS3. I have two 360s myself because i traded in my PS3. I didnt need it. I have a better Blueray player anyway. The 360 has the best version of multiplatform games and the best exclusives. Thats all i have time for anyway. See my point. I have completed 3 PS3 titles and i didnt like them that much tbh. Uncharted, MGS4 and Killzone 2. Not bad games at all i just wish i spend the time on some other better games on my 360 instead. Honest subjective opinion.
  • EvilBob_leeds #62 3 years ago

    Then why is he and are you on the boards for a PS3 game, if you don't own a PS3 and have no interest in getting one? Of what interest could PS3 games be to you? If you're so happy with your XBox you bought 2, then what possible value could a PS3 game hold for you?

    To be honest it's like pulling girls hair at primary school because you secretly fancy them. Farticus has got "I'm insecure about my 360 purchase" written all over him. And he probably likes primary school girls too.

  • lagoonalight #63 3 years ago

    Evil Bob, did you ever consider that maybe sony did actually rape his mother and shoot their dog or hamster or whatever in the head?

    I think we have found pure reason....
  • lagoonalight #64 3 years ago

    Oh you have a better bluray player anyway ehhhh, considering the PS3 is still in the top 3 players not costing 2000 dollars I have a hard time believing little you could tell the difference anyway because the PS3 aces just about every test thrown at it. You would really have to be testing AV discs on a 100 inch screen to notice so sucks to you musclehead. The PS3 is obviously a well made machine and OBVIOUSLY the GT5 creator is a huge freak about cars and does race them on the track. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY nothing to worry about unless you are a fanboy. How come I am devout Sony supporter and I am not spamming the Forza threads and how come I can wait ANOTHER year before the game comes out and be just fine. Some of you are just pathetic. Waiting was never the worst thing.

    I am willing to bet we are going to see a decent overhaul to the prettiest racing game their engine has progressed since prologue and it will continue to progress.

    And for the love of any god the best multiplats are that platform called a PC not the 360 by any means!
    Edited by 1 at 05/06/09 @ 14:27
  • Rodchenko #65 3 years ago

    @muscleblade

    You might have two 360s but neither of them has anything on my one ignore button. Good riddance you mong.
  • d0g #66 3 years ago

    He didn't have a PS3 trust me . Why all Xbox owners / fanboys come here to spam ? Look , I got a PS3 but I don't spam in forza 3 / xbox exclusive etc. . You see , when MGS was an PS3 exclusive you guys hate it like GT5 . When Kojima announced Rising for Xbox (multiplatform) all of you was like "w00t mgs rising for xbox" . So, put GT5 in that situation . (Sorry for bad english)

    To really appreciate this game, you need to play it with the Logitech G25. That's when you start to realise it's very much a simulator; especially when non-game-playing friends have a go and getting decent lap times.
