If they can make the protagonist show some actual fear during proceedings I think it could be genuinely scary; rather than just some freak-show shooting gallery like Resident Evil 5, where the sights and sounds of all these crazy creatures doesn't even seem to register with Chris & Co.
A truly terrified avatar would be excellent for a change.
