When watching a rally games to run in 30 fps is really fucking sucks!!
  • oldschoolsoviet #2 1 year ago

For once, I'm glad at the horrendously bad playing on show, as the awful GRID-esque handling is plain to see.

See-sawing D-pad steering all over the gravel, with little effect/consequence. Poor show indeed.

Hmmm.... think I'll cancel my pre-order!

worse unrealistic game/driving/crap ever. have they forgot colin mcrae 4 ? wrc in the ps2 era ?
  • Iakona #5 1 year ago

Got my copy today.. That video really doesn't do it justice.

The casual settings create arcadey gameplay.. Tweak them and it's A LOT better!

Video makes it look far too easy, the whole point of gravel is you have very little grip, that looks grippier than tarmac! Sorry but just gonna say I wish these graphic could be combined with a Richard Burns Rally handling model, maybe made a tiny bit easier for those who need it, but you HAVE to include a challenge and some of the actual dynamics which exist in real rallying otherwise what is the point... they might as well stick this in a futuristic city, make the cars float off the ground and call it Wipeout. Neg me if you like, not dissing the game, it looks like a good fun arcade racer for everyone who likes that (which is most people) but I just feel sad no one is willing to cater to those wanting a realistic version of the motorsport they love.

    Casual guys, casual..
  • phil_75 #9 1 year ago

    LMAO at that handling!

Thanks for vid, you just saved me £40!
  • Deckard1 #10 1 year ago

How did the first guy to comment get +2? What does that even mean?
  • BigDaddy82 #11 1 year ago

As if any of you trolls were going to buy it anyway! Can't argue with 9 out of ten, this looks like the best racer for years
  • MajorSaint #12 1 year ago

It looks like how a car would drive on ice with no tread on the tyres. That can't be right!
  • 32768Colours #13 1 year ago

I've not really enjoyed a racing game since Monaco GP 2 on the Megadrive, so once again I'll probably try a demo before switching it off after a minute of skidding side to side. Racing games are far too twitchy. I've got ten years no claims in real life but in a driving game I'm lucky if I can stay on the road for more than 5 seconds!
  • Darren #14 1 year ago

Looks stunning to me and great fun to play but, hell, what do I know! One point to remember is that the game was being played in Casual mode which is why it looks so easy from that video.
  • Vroom #15 1 year ago

Looks stunning. Can't wait to start!

"Awesome race! You should upload the highlights to YouTube for your fans to watch!"

Oh great. I wonder if there's an alternative comment urging you to post your time on Facebook as well...

Also love how instead of one annoying guy spouting off "wannabe-cool" comments like "that's the way you do it, superstar!" like in previous games there now seems to be more of them so as to (I presume) make sure everyone gets to hate at least one of them. And since the game apparently still insists on racing on one minute long stages, it looks like you'll be hearing their yapping quite a lot...oh well...
  • beatwolf #17 1 year ago

God damn the guy playing this sucks at it!!
  • JensonJet #18 1 year ago

I recently found my first, and series start, Colin McRae for the PS1. Obviously it looks terrible compared to today's games, but strangely the handling was more realistic than the more recent Dirt or Grid games.
  • Cadence #19 1 year ago

Shame they just couldn't resist sticking an annoying American in there.
  • Cammer #20 1 year ago

Should be using bonnet cam. Always looks fairly crap from behind whatever game it is.

Don't think those cars are much good either. Wait till you get into the Quattro! Still happy at pre-ordering this

LOL @ the circular basic track.
I am not going to play this on casual this time around I'm sick of always finishing 30 seconds in front in dirt 1 and 2. Colin Mcrae rally 4 was probably still the pinacle of the series for me though or the uphill pikes peak parts of dirt 1.
  • Caimbeul #22 1 year ago

the video/handling looks shit because of two things 1) the handling settings chose and 2)the shitty view chosen. No racer in their right mind chooses anything but the in-car view or bumper/bonnet view if unavailable and always chooses above average difficulty.

Everyone going on about how unrealistic it is...I bet that nobody who has posted has actually driven a rally car on a rally stage.

/waits for someone to pipe up saying they have.
  • billy323 #24 1 year ago

Why the noob camera view EG. I thought you guys were hardcore gamers. You really are determined to make yourselves look amateur lately.
  • chtgamer #25 1 year ago

where are those people who developed CMR2, CMR04, CMR5, huh? can't believe my eyes what i see. complete c. codemasters should be happy people buy THIS. even in WRC2010 by BlackBean roads are more narrow.
no, thanks. have to say this: there are no decent rally games after CMR5 and RBR. so disappointing :((
  • P1GEONPOO #26 1 year ago

The title should read first 15 minutes gaming in my life.
  • phil_75 #27 1 year ago

#24 Yeah, because I bet it's exactly the same as this shite!

I ain't been in the army so does that mean COD is a realistic war simulator?
  • kongzi #28 1 year ago

holy shit.. I've never decided to not buy a game because of these, but this horrible presentation just did exactly that. The people responsible for those voiceovers deserve smacks to the head. Seems they spent their effort on this horrible display because the racing looks exactly the same as dirt 1. That wouldn't have been a problem, but i'm not gonna sit trough endless menus and loading screens with a couple annoying accents talking to me.

Not even half the time in this vid was spent on the track, or even picking a car or something useless like a paintjob.. should say enough...
  • icelt #29 1 year ago

^ And if you want a computer to do all your steering and thinking for you go buy Kinect Racing.
    http://www.collegehumor.com/video/634838...

God forbid a racing game actually demands racing SKILL from it's players. Effn corporate lemmings, "I've gotta love it but it's been released." Swallow that corporate spew feral lemming! I've heard it builds testosterone, prevents baldness, increases girth and generally makes all the ladies fawn all over you. If nothing else, the stretch marks should do wonders for your cheeks ;)
  • Deckard1 #30 1 year ago

Yeah stick it to da man!!
  • DaveLev #31 1 year ago

For some good videos of someone playing Dirt 3 on difficult settings in a good view, start here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQVmShSgaU4 ... Can't believe Eurogamer put these videos out still, it makes them look so amateurish, every single video the person playing seems to be really bad.

Don't just drag anyone off the street for voice-overs in your games.

Christ, fact is most people have really annoying voices. Please realize this. Uh.

The dude who does the codex entries for Mass Effect and Crackdown should do voice overs for every game.

Smooth and soothing does it. Not shrill and annoying.

Imagine anyone of the characters in that game doing a bedtime story, bloody nightmare, with their bird noises that make word things that hurt my ears.

@davelev - nice to see some real driving. Thanks for the contribution.
  • jebus #34 1 year ago

    @phil_75 "LMAO at that handling!
Thanks for vid, you just saved me £40!"

Well the default when you boot the game is to have all the assists on - throttle help, braking help, auto gears and steering help and simple co-calls. That's what you are seeing in this vid. You can turn all that shit off.
  • banjo21 #35 1 year ago

    yup. Laughable.
    Stick with FM3 and F1-2010.
I guess they must make money from it or it wouldn't be 3. But hey ho I'd rather have a driving game than some US wnkfest.
  • Alatair #36 1 year ago

Damn, are all people who like racing games cunts? Seems like it from these comments.
  • dean0null #37 1 year ago

The announcer can be turned off and there are difficulties other than casual.

Eurogamer should be ashamed of uploading this piece of trash.
  • Tinrib72 #38 1 year ago

Erm, why use the behind the car view? It always looks crap and makes driving games near unplayable. You wouldnt drive a car normally with the seat set back 10 feet and welded onto the roof..

Buying anyway even if these videos do their best to make it look shit (as with any other driving game).
  • Snooz #39 1 year ago

I'd wish Codmasters atleast made a "Realistic DLC mod", will probably test a demo.
