Following in from the none-too-favourable reaction to last week's somewhat unsavoury DIRT 2 teaser comes this unveiling of the series' new star: Ken Block. Judgement reserved.

    For about 3 seconds of that 3 minute video, Ken Block actually looks like a rally driver. For the rest of it, he looks like a third rate white rapper.

    Dear Codemasters, I would really like to buy another rally racing game. However, I wish to point out that the following things have nothing to do with rallying:

    1. Ramping a car over a fire in sync with a stunt motorcyclist.
    2. Doing doughnuts around a man on a segway.
    3. Driving a car down a mountain alongside snowboarders.

    Yet again Codemasters illustrate to the world they no longer care about making good games, just making money off chavs.

    The thing to bear in mind about Ken Block is that he has his tongue in his cheek with stuff like this. The fact is he is an incredibly talented driver and someone who McRae, I suspect, would be happy to have endorsing one of his games posthumously. And of course, it helps that in America, the game's primary market, the intended audience has actually heard of Block, whereas McRae will still draw a blank from most Yanks!

    a completely useless video. This has got fuck-all to do with rallying at all and in all honesty it's just another way of making money. Please codemasters, bring back the days of colin mcrae rally when it was all about rallying and nothing else.

    Everything Codies have done to date have just made this game look worse. Starting the video with 'hot babes' in the background - what is that about? And I agree with Gnort. But I thought there were 2 rays of hope:

    1. Getting input from somebody who drives a rally car, who says its 'realistic' and fun.

    2. Wow Colin is mentioned - we thought he'd been completely forgotten. Maybe, just maybe, they'll pull it around.

    Don't surprised if the series ends up being called Ken Block: Dirt or Travis Pastrana: Dirt at some point. Perhaps this sort of US-centric video is prepping us Brits for when the move is made to feature a US, instead of a UK, rally driving genius so we know who these guys are when their names look back at us from supermarket shelves... As for the tits and ass, well, it's the videogames industry aiming its product at 17 year olds so what's new?

    - He IS a american chav/Townie
    Please Codies make a US Travis Prastana/ Block Dirt2 whatever with an American Co- driver who sounds like the fight intros in Street Fighter4.........
    Then do a proper European version of the same game thanks with better real rally stuff. think Sim WRC, like Race Pro for rallying.

    Well the videos do make me want to buy a Rally game.

    / checks CMR 2005 is b/c, hunts down copy...

    Do Sony still have WRC? Maybe they can knock out a decent Rally game?

    Nah, Sony don't have the WRC licence any more - now Evolution are working on MotorStorm, which it seems has made a lot more money for Sony anyway.
