Peek-a-boo combat is always a really quick way to make a game very easy, especially on the PC.
  • Shikasama #2 10 months ago

Actually, unless your AI is truly shit hot.

I don't want to be a killjoy and would love this game to blow us away but that trailer left me cold. I don't know if it's the animation, environments or the framerate but it just doesn't look organic and natural.

It's actually been a long time since I played a game with guns that didn't feature extensive cover shooting. It's depressing as pretty much every action game is starting to play exactly the game. It doesn't even matter if it's a FPS or third person game anymore.

When you've cover shooting mechanics in games about zombies, you know there's got to be something wrong with the creativity in the games industry. I bet it was only the iconic first aid sprays and herbs that stopped RE5 from having recharging health.

Fatbobbybob - I thought the same. I think for me it was the rag-doll (especially after the mine explodes). Just looks like it needs a bit more refinement.

Game is gonna be so w4nk
  • Shinetop #8 10 months ago

I remember when "stealth" meant "make sure nobody even realises you were ever there." Those days were great.

    It all looks very brown.
  • evanac #10 10 months ago

    Mustard is the new brown!

@Shinetop - I know what you mean! Haven't really seen a game along those lines since Tenchu on PS one! (Epic)

Mind you, 'Tenchu Z' wasn't half bad, if you don't care too much about graphics, that is...
  • lockload #11 10 months ago

Ive played it on ps3 and 360 the graphics are OK, models a bit strange their shoulders are too big but the art style is good

Gameplay wise i had no problems at all i played it twice once stealth and once combat and took different routes through the map

    Looking forward to this one

I love it how they try to make the combat look outstanding...though when you really listen to what they say there is ABSOLUTETLY nothing new here. Drwing enemies, then planting mines...X-Ray...cover system...yeah yeah so what?
How many more times do you wont to tell us that we can decide to either go for stealth or combat?
I think we now had our fill regarding gameplay videos. Tehy should release the game before we all get tired of the sepia look and so on.

    @Fatbobbybob

Yeah, I think it looks off too. It moves like it's a game from early last decade and funnily enough the first Deus Ex. No sense of being an actual character, more like just a camera set in the middle of the screen. Lack of weight and physics. It doesn't look or feel like a game world it just looks like a computer game. The dev has a level, lets put a bin here, a plant here, some NPCs over here. Lacks soul.
  • james-mw3-mw3 #14 10 months ago

As good as it looks, the weapon sounds are just so so... erh, maybe DICE could lend a hand ... ?
  • Cadence #15 10 months ago

@lockload - how exactly have you played this on the 360 and PS3 already?
  • silversun #16 10 months ago

This game by a mile wins game of the year media award if there was one , everything about it looks amazing , hopeful that game will be fun when it come out and it only a month away now.

I think they need one more big launch trailer that is on tv as well and they good to go with it on advertising side of things.

I seem to remember the original game had lots and lots of bin bags in it - almost as many as the original F.E.A.R. Didn't add to the atmosphere in both cases.
If you must have bin bags in your title, at least give us a 'rubbish' minigame to justify it.
  • curtlikesmeat #18 10 months ago

I'm more interested in the "social" and to a lesser extent stealth, which they don't really talk about here.
  • PearOfAnguish #19 10 months ago

If the leaked version is anything to go by this 'four pillars' of gameplay goes right the fuck out the window when it comes to boss battles. Then it's just combat.

Up until then it was great.
  • lockload #20 10 months ago

@Cadence Was at E3 won a competition through xbox live rewards to go, both versions were playable on the show floor

In case you dont believe me http://rewards.xbox.com/get-yours/vip/e3...

I get a general sense (hopefully unfounded) of this being distinctly average, especially when compared to the original.
But i am also optimistic that the PC community will rescue it with some fantastic mods/tweaks etc, i'm not sure if Eidos has confirmed the existence of an editor yet, or if they will ever release one.. but regardless the franchise is held in such high regard, that i am sure that modders will find a way.

    @PearOfAnguish

Pretty much the same in Deus Ex was it not?
  • PearOfAnguish #23 10 months ago

No. There is one forced boss fight. And not only can you avoid it the first time simply by running away - which the game accounts for by making you face them later on - but it allows you a lot more flexibility about how you take them on. In Human Revolution you're shunted into a room via a cutscene and forced into this fight which requires nothing more than shooting the guy in the head until he goes down. No stealth, no social, no hacking. It's shit.
  • DRUNK3N-_-DRAGON #24 10 months ago

absolutely sick of hearing bout this over hyped shit now!
  • blackbriar101 #25 10 months ago

    I didn't ask for this.
  • peppergomez #26 10 months ago

Let's hope the content and depth make up for what seem to me to be underwhelming visuals. Agree w/ another poster that I'd rather talk or sneak my way out of combat than fight.
  • tokenwebster #27 10 months ago

Kinda reminds me of goldeneye rouge agent a little
