Deus Ex 3 - Debut teaser

Published 27 November, 2007 Duration 2:26

The Deus Ex series should need no introduction. Its seminal mixture of shooter, RPG and adventure mechanics attracted massive critical praise, as well as a rabidly loyal fan-base. Part three, we hope, should be no exception.

Fantastic news. Here's hoping they don't fuck up the game though.

That's one of the worst Gravelly Voiced Man voice overs I have ever heard.

Well i hope its more like Deus Ex 2 than 1. I really didn't get on with the complexity of the original.

    Too much micromanagement going on...

There was a good game in Deus Ex 2 somewhere, they just ruined it thoroughly. I have no faith in this, and I won't get my hopes up. I'll just check it out when it's out.

I hope they don't dumb it down for console owners. Deus Ex needs to be a complex, multi-layered game and that includes gameplay mechanics.

The trailer does not tell you anything. It is the worst tailer ever.

What's the deal with the stupid voice.
  • loopy #12 5 years ago

"What's the deal with the stupid voice."

It's not stupid. It's "Generic Gravelly Hollywood Voice-over" man. who's illustrious career has spanned the vast majority of Hollywood movie trailers since the mid-1970's. :p

All the signs say it will be shit. None of the original devs, being made by a new studio from a publisher in financial difficulty and on a run of rushed mediocre titles.

It's a desperate attempt at a cash-in on one of their few decent IPs left.

It was well pitched, I thought. Directly at the actual Deus Ex audience, rather than at the "big guns, big boobs" audience. If they could deliver on the promise in the tagline, it would be awesome.

But then, even in Hollywood, people the who make the trailers are much better than the people who make the end product :p.

If you haven't already seen it, check out the video analysing the trailer on YouTube. Someone went into a lot of detail.

I really liked Deus Ex 2. It was a wee bit short, but I enjoyed it. Everybody might have been complaining about over-simplification of the RPG elements and stuff, but it's at least as complex as Bioshock, probably moreso.

Also, Project Snowblind was originally meant to be a spin off from the Deus Ex universe, and that turned out reasonably well, they probably should have left the license intact on that one.

Just because the studio is new doesn't mean that the staff are all inexperienced. Especially in the hotbed of dev studios that is Montreal.

The lack of meaningful lasting interaction with the game world (as the ending is based solely on your choice during the last ten minutes of gameplay and your upgrades can be redone at any time, for any situation) are what makes Invisible War a bad Deus Ex game. The hilarious bugs in the physics engine and the lackluster gameplay solutions (one ammo type for all weapons, tiny areas and large loading times) are what makes Invisible War a bad game in general. It has plenty of plot twists and atmosphere, but there are just too many magic solutions to suspend any disbelief.

    deus ex was a classic,
they'll never do a game as good as the original.
Just hoping they dont sodomise the memory of its classic roots.
a competant addition to the franchise is possible, but I wont hold my breath.
Invisible war was alright. Its main achivement was reminding me why the 1st one was so good. Hope this is better.
