    I started as Knight, but on rebuying it in 2 weeks I'll be trying another character. Any other suggestions?

    Well, not Royal unless you want to have no challenge in the first few levels. :)
    I like the more agile classes like Hunter, Thief or Wanderer.

    wizlon, i'd try magician. It's goddamn top from the very beginning, and then you can always improve your stats on strength, endurance, etc, and use whatever armors or swords you want. Although I'd recommend the use of clothes and not armor, so you can roll around easily, which is the best option for evading just about everything.

    What class would you guys recomend for a first time player but one that doesn't compromise the challenge?

    I started with the knight too, before I realised it's far better to evade than block :) The royal is a good choice for beginners, as you go on, you can develop any class in pretty much any direction.

    Start as Royal, get the Winged Spear from 1-2 asap, and push STR/DEX evenly until they are both around lvl 20. That way you'll have a solid weapon as well as good ranged attacks. Don't neglect magic stats either.

    Wear light armour -the black leather set in 3-1 will last forever- and don't touch endurance ever.

    I started as a Royal, but I'd hardly say it totally compromised the challenge - just made it a little less punishing.

    1) Start as thief
    2) Put all your stat points in Dex and Luck
    3) Do NOT understand how weapon crafting works
    4) ?????
    5) Profit

    @Hardtech

    As some people have mentioned. You can develop any class into anything you want. The classes are simply starting stat templates.

    As for the games challenge. It's hard as nails no matter the class you pick. It's best to make the early areas easier rather than making extra work for yourself. The game doesn't reward you for slogging through it by the skin of your teeth. Instead the areas change based on your actions within them. Dying actually makes a world harder so you need to avoid doing that too often in any world.

    Anyone who claims that you need to pick a weak starting class for this game, to increase the challenge, is a muppet and I'd advise you to ignore their advice like the plague!
