Dead Rising Chop Till You Drop - Gameplay

Published 20 August, 2008 Duration 1:47

Zombies in a shopping centre. The 360 original was part Romero, part Saturday afternoon in Bluewater. The Wiimake (terribly sorry) might not be able to render a thousand zoms simultaneously, but you can get 100% more bat satisfaction. Batisfaction.

I wnder how far in development this is, because I can't quite come to believe Capcom would release this in its clearly-unfinished current state. Resi 4 walks all over this and then pees in it's face for shits and giggles.

    That looks awful.

I still can't understand why they've chosen the Wii over the PC. It clearly can't handle the game. Even with a laughable amount of zombies it lags.

Words can't describe how ridiculous this is.

Well, it can handle Resi 4 - okay, it's only a couple dozen at a time, but to be honest with a well-designed game and that viewpoint that is more than plenty (showing off hundreds of zombies was always a "Look! I have a big member!" statement).

But this is ugly. The animation is jerky and clunky. The game looks cheap and rushed. The zombies barely react, items and guns don't react in the way you'd think they would, the zombies are uninspired and don't look very scary at all, the textures look grainy and cheap...

It runs on the Resi 4 engine. And that still looks bloody amazing. This just doesn't, and I can only conclude Capcom are rushing this out to get a few sales... which is a pity, because if it looked and handled llike Resi 4 they'd have a hit on their hands for sure...

    Wanted it to be great.

Should have been at least good.

Looks dreadfully rough and unfinished - poor collision detection, clunky movement, really stunted animation & ai and worst of all things like the carrying & using of the bench look wrong somehow as if the angle of view and movement don't mesh up right.

on the PC? dont you get it? the whole point of this version is that they clearly wanted to get the physical actions of the 20 or so weapons to be played out with a wimote.
(which could be hilarious i might add, lawnmower!)
...but we still have fools comparing technical values, saints preserve us.

    Fuck me that looks poor.

Hmmm, doesn't look very interesting. Quite bad actually.
I also think that a PC version (mods!) would be a much better idea.

That only proves how stupid the decision was. 'Hey! One element of this game would be great on Wii! Let's port it'

The immeasurable amount of zombies was one of the game's selling points. This port is going to be worse than RE4 on PC.

    Second that ChthonicEcho

Doesn't bode well for the final release. Pretty much everything looks bad when you compare it to the 360 original... aside from the Wii controls, which might not even be that good. And then what's left?
  • Kami #12 4 years ago

The problem is thus - this is not a technical showcase of the Wii in any way, shape or form. We've got Wii games whch look better, react better and move much smoother. Say what you like about the Wii, this is just not good enough - and coming from Capcom, who are usually bloody brilliant when it comes to ports and downgrading, that's a bad sign.

Agreed with the consensus here: how have they made the still-gorgeous Resi 4 engine look so astonishingly ugly, unresponsive and buggy? I disagree that the Wii shouldn't be able to handle some version of Dead Rising, but this unfinished, rushed-looking mess is no version of Dead Rising at all. Sort it, Capcom.

where are all the zombies.... the game seems so empty... this is not a true dead rising. to bad, since i'm a big fan of the original

" where are all the zombies.... the game seems so empty... this is not a true dead rising. to bad, since i'm a big fan of the original "

Whats with all the guns shown is a better question. The whole point of dead rising was playing with limited weapons, against a horde of enemies, which could be quite fast reacting, particularily at night, not having a million guns to shoot at 4 zombies.

And another thing, why the fuck are all the psychos in the wrong places?
The clown should be in wonderland plaza, and the policewoman should be in a women's clothes store.
