Dawn of War II - Tyranids

Published 11 February, 2009 Duration 2:43

The infestation of the Tyranid race spreads like a foul curse across the universe, reaping all within its path. Will you be the general to turn it back, stemming the tide of destruction? Or will you become their very god, leading them to crush humanity and all its allies?

Which came first, the Tyranids or the Zerg?

Why this looks shittish to me?

    From wikipedia:

'The first recognisable incarnation of Tyranid warriors appeared in Advanced Space Crusade in 1990'

'The first game of the StarCraft series, it was released for Microsoft Windows on 31 March 1998'

So, as usual Blizzard stole from Games Workshop.

I thought Dawn of War 2 was small squad based from the hands on recently/ This looks much more like the old Down of War.

I find them rather mediocre in multiplayer.

And OF COURSE the Tyranids came first you muppet. Blizzard is a copy of Games Workshop stuff.

They're incredibly imba in multiplayer beta now due to some exploits. They got that fearful swarm theme going though, how small-scale DoW II might be, it certainly is more vivid and colourful than any other RTS.

ripper swarms can fuck you up if you get rushed at the start

    (feels pain from online rape)

Although the Tyranids are cool, I give the "cool"-victory to the Zerg thanks to a consistent colour-scheme and feel - the Tyranids looks a bit branched out in that regard.

Thats cause color schemese are customisable here. Smaller units are indeed more "cool" on the Zerg side (zergling vs hermagaunt, hydralisk vs warrior brood), although Ultralisk vs Carnifex? 'fex wins all four claws down.

After all what Blizzard excels at is undeniably rip off and polish.

It's a Lictor, EG. Lichtor sounds either German or some sort of undead tyranids XD

Tyranids look good. All of them. Moreso, they are the strongest race in DoW2 at the moment (at least I think so).

"Or will you become their very god, leading them to crush humanity and all its allies?"

Woah, woah, woah, since when did humanity have any allies in the WH40K universe? What happened to the good ol' days of cleansing, purging and killing any xenos? ;)

nice starship troopers tribute there. i kept expecting him to say "would you like to know more?"

The Tyrannids - especially in the early days - have always reminded me of HR Giger's Alien (1979) and in particular Stan Winston's adapted design for the alien queen (1988).

If you're going to point the "rip-off" finger then there's where you should start.
