For pre-alpha code, this looks pretty astonishing already. Blisteringly fast and showing a very clean and uncluttered interface, multiplayer Crysis is shaping up to be as much of a treat as the gorgeous single-player movies suggest the rest will be.

I mean, if you're standing still, then you're not making use of the speed boost. But you have to manually switch it. If you're moving, you'll probably want to be moving fast. It's pretty obvious what the optimum suit setting ought to be for a given situation.
Essentially, when players get good enough, switching suit modes is going to be a reflex thing - practically automatic anyhow. It's like the core game is hiding behind an extra interface barrier.
I like the suit balance idea (because I love Tie Fighter), but I get the feeling that this might turn out to be a slight gimmick in this. I could be very very wrong.
You might be able to combine the idea of slow==armour and fast==less armour just by watching player speed and adjusting accordingly. Might be an interesting macro/mod.
A friend of mine did something which was kind of similar - a UT2k3/4 mod where your health was inversely proportional to your speed (called "Accelerape" if you want to look it up). It was neat - you'd grab a rocket launcher and shoot the floor to intentionally get a speed boost. Of course, the faster you were, the more suseptible you were, pretty much like this.

simple as.
Also it feels more like spray and pray, fun in its own right but I feel its going to be really hard to becom pro at this game (obviously not an issue for me, just thought i'd point it out).
