Those clever chaps over at Crytek demonstrate the additional graphical tastiness to be enjoyed courtesy of the 'next-gen' direct X. Leafy.

    Both look amazing.
    DX10 looks a bit better.

I know nothing: how does PS3 compare to DX9/10??
  • lambtron #3 5 years ago

That's a rather hard question to answer seeing as all PS3's are the same and DX9/10 run on a massive range of hardware.

well i was surprised how much more lush the DX10 looked. i was expecting a hard-to-tell comparisson like the Lost Planet one we saw the other day.

    Really impressed :)

the engine's amazing a really step up in technology

Thing is though, the DX9 version had hardly any movement. The player was tiptoeing around barely moving mouse. On DX10 however there was plenty of movement to show a motion blur effect. Is this motion blur on the DX9 version ?

was that supposed to be the same location in the second clip? it just looks like they picked a denser patch of jungle to make it look busier. not much to tell them apart otherwise, though i guess a tiny compressed flash movie is not the best way to call it.

DX10 looks fantastic but Im actualy surprised at how good the DX9 footage was...Now it would be noce to know exactley what it wa running on.

I believe the DX10 version will have a bunch of noticeable graphical improvements e.g. dynamic rays of light shinging through the foliage.

Either way, they both look stunning...

edit: However, little worried in the first clip where he clearly shoots the dude in the leg and he goes down, stands up and carries on firing as if nothing happened :D

both look rather funkadelic, I'm assuming the protagonist has cataracts (or something to that effect) in the dx10 version... so much motion blur :o looks stunning though, and I wasn't expecting the dx9 version to look as good - promising so far

if there ever was a reason to switch to vista then I guess this'll be it

It looks quite easy. Our hero is not harmed at all, and the enemy guys are shooting to some things next to hero :)

    -hopes that was sarcasm-

With DX9 looking so good, who needs DX10? Honestly, the DX9 video is enough to shame every game out there. Kudos Crytek!

It was shiny, but like other games with higher detail settings switched on, I wonder if the extra detail like more leaves might obscure hostiles from view and make it more difficult.

Be a shame if the DX9 game is the easy mode :)

The particle effects look a lot better in 10.

Couldn't see any difference. If there is meant to be a step up, I want it to be obvious.

Very fancy, but the enemies are as poor shots as ever...

You only get grenades in DX10 then? Not really a very good comparison, both versions do look lovely though, but unless they come to console, I shan't be playing it, not forking out the amount of money needed for a system that would do this justice.

All the trees fall over every time you shoot in their general direction...is that realistic? It looks weird.

I actually prefer the crispness of the DX9 stuff, I don't like the motion blur with the DX10 footage either.
