The Conduit - Tech highlights

Published 3 October, 2008 Duration 1:38

Getting the graphical best out of the Wii doesn't seem to have been a priority for many developers so far, and whether or not you think that's a bad thing, it's nice to see a team try. High Voltage's The Conduit struts its stuff in this tech highlight reel.

Shame we couldn't get this in a higher res!

Not trying to troll or anything but it's slightly sad to see such technology is worth "bragging about" in 2008. It's like developers are holding back (regressed, even) so they can upgrade Wii games gradually through Wii's life-span. Or is that only natural and not intentional?

Daymare: I know what you mean to an extent, but I really don't think there's anything in the idea that developers have been intentionally borking their own graphics technology to feign the appearance of progress over the Wii's lifespan. Ambitious developers will want their games to look as good as possible, and that's obviously quite difficult on the Wii, especially in a market where gamemakers and consumers alike have grown accustomed to the capabilities of the HD consoles.

Doing this kind of things isn't easy on Wii, but it is possible, and I applaud High Voltage for taking the time to try. Their game looks extremely accomplished as far as I can tell, and I'll be keen to give it a try when it launches.

Not intentional. It's simply that most devs are lazy when it comes to the Wii. Until this movie I don't actually think most devs thought the Wii could even do this stuff!
