    Apart from some screen tear and jaggies on 360 (and that weird speckly effect on the edge of shadows) I'm not seeing a huge difference. What settings did you have the PC version on?
  • Bealsy #2 7 months ago

    maybe that will finally put the moaning to bed.
  • bad09 #3 7 months ago

    @Goodfella

    I'm not sure about the actual settings but I know they do gimp the resolution to 720 so the consoles get a "fair" comparison with PC in these face offs. These faces offs are more 360vPS3 with the PC version gimped alongside so not to embarass MS and Sony. They are pretty useless for PC owners.
  • danidrums #4 7 months ago

    @bad09: "They are pretty useless for PC owners." I would dare to say useless to everybody. They say nothing about gameplay or features. The nice graphics were on every ad last couple of months already.

    @bad09

    Indeed, I've played the PC version (full retail release) on high settings and it looks a lot better than that.

    Who picks the music for these face offs? It's seriously, seriously shit beyond belief.
  • peterfll #8 7 months ago

    If I was getting this on the 360 I'd be pretty chuffed that most of the fidelity and effects are intact. Perhaps there's a need for more specific examples of effects only supported by the PC version? I could spot a few, but only really cos I've educated myself in knowing what to look for...
  • Monkeyspoon #9 7 months ago

    Comparrisons have already confirmed that the PC is the best followed by PS3 and the 360 is the worst.
  • geeza2020 #10 7 months ago

    What is the point in this face off?

    ZOMG! a PC can do better graphics than a 5 year old piece of hardware! no fucking shit, sherlock.

    @balloonman

    It's called law of diminishing returns and 30fps video.
  • Darren #13 7 months ago

    The 360 and PS3 versions look good and run as well as can be expected of six year old hardware but, seriously, what is the point in comparing console footage with 720p PC footage that plays at a mere 30 fps? It isn't a fair test as I'd imagine very few PC owners play games at 720p anyway and if they do they'd be getting 60 fps not 30 fps. A fairer test would be full-blooded 60 fps 1080p PC footage at DX11, Ultra settings with 4xMSAA alongside the Xbox 360 version running upscaled to 1080p. I think the differences would be more obvious, especially in terms of smoothness and image quality.

    @balloonman - You can... take a look at the Need for Speed: The Run demo as it uses the Frostbite 2.0 engine.
  • Clive_Dunn #15 7 months ago

    That's some pretty bad tearing on the X360 version.
  • barchetta #16 7 months ago

    Yeah, 360 tore like a bastard. Never been distracted by it before but that first few minutes of the first SP mission was simply me coming to terms with it.... Does MP suffer same?
  • Jimster71 #17 7 months ago

    Some people have reported that the MP on Xbox doesn't look like it used the HD textures. Will be interesting to see what the article makes of it.
  • Nephirion #18 7 months ago

    I am going to go out on a limb here and say as PC was the lead platform it will be PC?
  • kirankara #19 7 months ago

    lensoftruth have ps3 vs 360 analysis up, and conclude that its mixed bag of affairs. ps3 has better lighting and aa, whilst also.having better post processing effects, some of which are completely absent on 360. However, 360 has less texture streaming delay, and less pop in, whilst both have similar amounts of tearing and frame rates, although ps3 tears more st top of screen. If enough eg'ers on ps3 , I'm going ps3, if not, its 360 for me
  • Lukus #20 7 months ago

    Video playback seems less smooth on the new look EG... Every HD video I've tried to watch so far has stuttered like a motherfucker. Anyone else? I'm hoping it's not my computer showing its age.
  • cloudskipa #21 7 months ago

    I'd rather see the focus on 360 vs PS3 than a dialed-back PC version which proves helpful to pretty much nobody. PC gamers (even those with modest rigs) would never play on the same low settings comparable to the home console versions (running on 6 year old tech) so what is the point I ask???
  • ant72 #22 7 months ago

    Really quite impressed by the 360 version. Nice.
  • jjadi #23 7 months ago

    @Lukus i have the same, any other HD video is fine but as soon as I try this site HD is unpardonably jumpy
  • obscured021 #24 7 months ago

    been playing on ultra all day @1080p and the game looks great, but the witcher 2 still takes best graphics I have seen ever
  • Flynn #25 7 months ago

    At this resolution, that looks incredibly close all things considered. Where 360 comes off worst is the framerate and tearing. But from my experience on 360 in multiplayer at 30fps it's a non issue. After a few goes I'd stopped thinking about visuals and was completely engrossed in all the dying I was doing.
  • SirRodSpode #26 7 months ago

    With the horsepower available in a new PC of course it will be better. However you cannot overstate what a huge achievement DICE have made by making BF3 run as well as it does on consoles (Well speaking from my XBox experience anyway.) It looks great by any measure - the only time you wouldn't agree is if you'd just been playing it on a pimped PC.
  • Badassbab #27 7 months ago

    @Darren

    Though I have quite a powerful PC, I quite like gaming at 720p not on my PC monitor but my Full HDTV. The upscaling by the TV is fantastic and I can normally get away with playing everything on max settings @ 60hz. Of course if it's a console port type game like UE3 games tend to be I do set it to 1080p as I know I'll have hardly any issues with the performance.
  • mando #28 7 months ago

    I hope for multiplayer comparison =).
  • spongebob #29 7 months ago

    So where's the full comparison?
  • kirankara #30 7 months ago

    Game looks great on consoles , considering their age etc. ps3 looks especially fantastic, with more lighting and past processing effects, although screen tear and pop in , is a little disconcerting on both.
    Anyway, where is blooming.face off???
  • f0nZ #31 7 months ago

    Is really that bad on Xbox?
  • hesido #32 7 months ago

    It's been days, but the full face off link is still not present on the home page of DF, I saw the link only through twitter..
  • KayTannee #33 7 months ago

    I've been playing BF3 on Ultra PC settings.

    But I'm absolutely amazed at how good it looks on consoles. I'm so surprised.

    I'm equally amazed at how good it looks on low PC settings, other then degrading the crispness abit, really isnt 'all' that much difference between PC Ultra and low. (running at 1080p anyway)

    Also as to the 64player vs 24 player issue, ... try playing 64player on Operation Metro, its idiotic. Although, having said that some of the other maps, are incredibly good fun. Do find them abit too chaotic at times though, and am quite happy in a slower paced 32player game.

    I really do think console players have a good thing on their hands here.
