  • Lunatic4ever #2 12 months ago

What was that Bobby Kottick saying about perfomance on consoles?

Here you have it Bobby! :p

Game looks really good and it seems like the new Frostbite engine kicks ass.
  • asphaltcowboy #3 12 months ago

    In DICE we trust!
  • waggy79 #4 12 months ago

I think that looks quite comparable to the pc tbh. It may not be quite as jaw dropping but still very nice with some months still to polish. Above all though the gameplay looks unchanged which is the main thing.
  • Vanmunt #5 12 months ago

Stupid games industry... over half way though infamous 2, then I have nothing to play..roll on sept, oct and nov and there are not enough hours in the day to play all the games.
  • weejok #6 12 months ago

Hard to tell from that video how it compares to the PC footage we've been seeing, game is going to be amazing though!
  • dangercopperfield #7 12 months ago

Yeah, shame about the video quality but at least its out there now! The wow factor was lacking but I suppose its a section we all have seen before.

  • wizlon #10 12 months ago

Who is this Jimmy Fallon character and why is he really rubbish at videogames?
  • Bibbo #11 12 months ago

What I expected, very impressive for consoles! Looks like 30fps, which I'm fine with seeing what Bad Company 2 runs at on consoles.

  • zedzee #12 12 months ago

What's significant about this video is not that the game is wicked (or should I say 'sick' - that's the word these days, right?) or that it's out on blah, blah date or that the presenter is useless at playing. In fact, the most significant thing is that a video game is almost being featured as a talk-show 'guest'.

In this clip, the EA guys are almost secondary to the game being shown and played; the game is the star! Just like any Hollywood actor/actress might walk on the set, sit down and start talking about their latest theatrical release. And why not?! It's about time that video games got recognised beyond the default fraternity that holds them close to its bosom.

Battlefield 3 may yet break some previously impervious social and television broadcasting barriers.

wtf are EA doing debuting bf3 console on a telly programme? whats wrong with a HD feed on EG or Gametrailers etc. and if they had to do that, why not follow it up very soon after with some HD web coverage? very strange PR decision IMHO.
  • bodypopper #14 12 months ago

Purdy though I fancy the lighting isn't as, well, fancy as in the PC demo.
  • wayn3h #15 12 months ago

    @ #14

Not strange at all. They want to knock COD off the top spot and I would have thought part of the strategy would be to show the masses who may not come on gaming sites how 'awesomes' Battlefield is hoping to sway them away from COD...
  • wayn3h #16 12 months ago

Looks mighty impressive running on consoles though it must be said. Though it's the PC version for me no question.
  • Gunhappy23 #17 12 months ago

Dear Activision. The history channel have been on the phone, they would like to do a show on the COD engine.

Since every CoD game has sold 798 trillion copies, there has to be quite a bit of "average people" among the buyers. Clearly EA wants to show their game to these people who don't care about game websites and don't know much about games. They probably buy 2 games a year, the other game being Call of Duty because "Steve had it and it looked totally cool and cinematic, dude." So they're basically showing there's an option to CoD.

    ---

The PS3 version looks good, quite similar to PC version. The PS3 button icons on the screen were pretty much the only thing that gave it away.

    not sure if serious
  • knightmt #22 12 months ago

Sweeeeeeeeeeet. To be fair to Fallon every time I pick up a new fps game it takes me a couple of minutes to stab, throw grenade and then shoot a team mate, before finding the sites. I do not know if they should have a VG week on a late nite show, you have to subconsciously desensitise jo public to war? Otherwise they will get shell shock.
  • The-Jack-Burton #23 12 months ago

Looks really good even with that shitty feed, some screen tearing here and there
  • kirankara #24 12 months ago

Looks pretty epic for alpha footage , and with 4 months plus to optimise it, game should be sweet looking come release day. I have to comment on the low res flame that they have implemented though . I know ps3 has some bandwidth issues, and other devs implement it in games, but when it's left on screen for long periods of time ,it looks woeful.
  • Frankie_Lee #25 12 months ago

Apparently it's video game week on Latenight. Skyword sword on tomorrow night!
  • FeralYouth #26 12 months ago

Ha, at the people impressed by this. Stagnant game-play with nigh non existent A.I that acts the same ALL the time when it actually functions. Yah, a rival to Call of Duty just what the industry NEEDS right.

Even Black of last gen was better than this in the game-play department..

Anyway it's all about Multi-player which I'm sure will deliver.
  • FiReTiGeR2K #27 12 months ago

looks as good as MAG... seriously its nothing like the pc version and i know it wasnt first person but id go as far as to say that what their trying to do with these levels doesnt look as good as G.R.A.W 1 from years ago. as i always thought its just anothe rbattlefield and EA have managed to B$ everyone into thinking its some kind of new generational leap... the games looks as good or worse than medal of honor being that it was on that engine DEAL WITH IT
  • NeoKenzi #28 12 months ago

    Nice... VERY Nice...
  • carlitoswagon #29 12 months ago

    @FiReTiGeR2K

Having played GRAW1/GRAW2 and the recent MOH I can safely say you're eyesight needs tested.

Not that I even care if it looks better. If it looks the same as BFBC2 I'll still be happy. Too many folks concerned about look when Battlefield is all about the gameplay.

I sense the presence of some very deluded and bitter COD fan boys in here, not mentioning any names lol
  • telboy007 #31 12 months ago

  • des #32 12 months ago

Look fine, but certainly not leaps and bounds over MW2.DF must be happy, tons of stuff missing/gimped compared to PC--destruction is toned down,no motion blur...
  • Beano #33 12 months ago

Fallon always make me want to stab myself in the eye. He is such a whore - much worse than the usual talkshow hosts.
  • ronuds #34 12 months ago

Some pretty horrendous shadow and pop-in issues (notice the shadows dancing about near the end and the air conditioners keep popping in and out of the picture), but looked pretty good otherwise. Hopefully they'll fix those issues before it launches.

Are you really surprised? The game is in alpha stage, with over 4 months on development time left till it goes to press.

its clearly nowhere near quality of pc version, but again, is anyone surprised by that? its better looking than mw2 by a fair bit though, and surpasses bc2 which was already a pretty damn good looking game.

either way ill be happy, if they tart it up a bit between now and release

  • ronuds #37 12 months ago

    @kirankara

Not surprised... I was just making an observation in hopes that those things would be fixed before launch (which I suspect they will be).
  • mukki #38 12 months ago

Pretty but a little less fancy than the pc footage... uneducated guess/statement based on tv footage
would be nice to see this in hi res

yeah, i kinda figured you knew, as i know you are not a epic retard from reading your posts, unlike the occasional posters that float around here, but thought id state those things to clear it up for their sake .
  • Quixz #41 12 months ago

I'm worried this might not be so good on the 360.

At E3 they demoed Need For Speed RUN on the ps3 and it's using the same Frostbite 2 engine.
  • KrispyBacon #42 12 months ago

Looks good. The multiplayer is where the real fun is anyway.
