    So you can bring the antenna down in Caspian, I wonder how long that'll stay up in an average match.

    @Ged42
    It's going to be the biggest objective at first since people are using up vehicle spawns just to get there.

    Fantastic news! :)

    Where there any buildings in the beta that were completely destructible like the ones in BFBC2? I didn't see any..
  • tobsen #5 8 months ago

    OK, but how much of that was scripted?
  • magicpanda #6 8 months ago

    @Papasmurf

    Yes lots in Caspian Border. Some buildings would leave a frame up though or there is always some kind of indestructible cover nearby.

    You couldn't bring down the antenna in MP. I'm thinking that was single player footage.

    Great, hows about showing us some stuff that isnt just scripted singleplayer events?
  • DeadlyByDesign #8 8 months ago

    so depressing that none of the destruction will be to that scale on the xbox
  • carlitoswagon #9 8 months ago

    @DeadlyByDesign

    The PC and console version have no difference in destruction. One might look pretier than the other, although you will be able to do the same damage on both versions.

    Massive apartment blocks and sky scrapers will have limited destruction as seen in the Beta i.e. you'll be able to blow chunks out of the side of large building but not topple them. Smaller buildings like those in BC2 will be able to be either levelled completely or stripped to the bare bones leaving nowhere to hide. This is pretty much what I expected.

    Nice, though in BC2 the buildings around the flags always get smashed in minutes = same every time ironically.

    @Ged42: How fast are tank shells? ;)
  • Genyus #11 8 months ago

    @tobsen

    I'd say 15-20% max.

    After playing the BETA, I knew they would use lots of scripted single player footage for this video. The damage is pretty good in general, but this exaggerates it and I'm a HUGE fan.
  • johnw100 #13 8 months ago

    Most of that video is single player footage. So scripted events like the antenna and huge buildings falling down will only happen in that not multiplayer. Can you imagine the antenna being destructable in caspian, it`ll be down within 10secs of the start.

    They also said theyve toned down the destruction for the beta. But even in the final game I think its a case of anything larger than 3 stories wont be fully destructable, so houses,etc will be. Kind of like BFBC2. Otherwise it`ll be too much of a map change. Shame really, would be nice to completely flatten a city.

    From what I've seen the destruction is toned down from BC2. Suppose this is highly dependent on the map. But none of the four maps they've shown (Metro, Caspian, Firestorm, Grand Bazaar) has featured destruction to any significant degree.

    Metro has one area in which facades can be brought down, and a couple of walls in the metro, which I found kind of contrived as you are surrounded by walls all the time which are indestructible.

    Caspian has like one building per base which walls are all destructible, don't know if any of them can be collapsed.

    Firestorm and Bazaar I've only seen videos of, but destruction seems more limited in those as well. Bazaar appears similar to Metro and Firestorm seems to consist of industrial warehouses a la last area of Atacama Rush.

    So, not a whole lot of two-three story buildings that can be completely wrecked (none), and taller buildings (granted BC2 had none of these) will only have destructible facades by the looks of things. Generally seems more reminiscent of the way destruction worked in the first Bad Company.

    "Most of that video is single player footage. So scripted events like the antenna and huge buildings falling down will only happen in that not multiplayer."

    Good jumping to conclusions there! It's shown in single player so it must ONLY be in single player!!!! Sheesh!

    A dev confirmed it was destructible in Caspian Border. They have also said destruction was toned down in beta due to a bug (and I'm guessing if you are toning it down then stopping a fricken huge tower from being destroyed is probably something you'd do)

    "Indeed"

    it will still be mind blowingly good
  • johnw100 #17 8 months ago

    FireMonkey- I said its single player only because its obviously a scripted scene with no mp hud unlile the rest of the video content. But if it is destructable I hope it requires more than a single well placed tank shell. Maybe the cable supports need to be taken out.
