    Thats the 7/10? Im glad Im still buying it. Found elsewhere rather good reviews about it too ( not just scorewise cause thats not the point :) ) so im happy with how its looking and sounds to me :D Yay for the horror genre. Was about time!

    I hate people that can't write trying write like someone that can write.

    Games need better writers.

    "I hate people that can't write trying write like someone that can write."

    HarryPalmer needs a better writer...

    @HarryPalmer: maybe you could give lessons, you seem qualified...
  • HarryPalmer #6 2 years ago

    Yeah it was ironical
  • Golgo #7 2 years ago

    No it wasn't, go on...admit it ;)

    So it's sub-720p and they STILL couldn't fix the screen tearing?!?!? :o
  • HardTimesUK #9 2 years ago

    Looks like it's worth a shot... I always like to make my own mind up about titles like this anyway. Not sure who was playing that then but they seemed to be having some trouble with the controls ;)
  • sneetch #10 2 years ago

    Well, if they still bring out the PC version I'll be getting it. There's just something about it I quite like.

    what the hell is Mr Wake going to do with 100 coffee thermos?
  • potter73 #12 2 years ago

    tbh, going by the opening 10mins, I don't think this warranted a 7/10.

    Am liking the 'Silent Hill' style of this, and in the abscence of a decent Silent Hill on 360/PS3...this could definately fill the void.

    Only neg. points I can see are the irritating narration from the central character (I appreciate that the 'story' is being told from his point of view, but can that be switched off?)

    At the end of the day, if it does turn out to be a pile of crap....then I'll take it back and get a partial refund on it (any money lost, I'll soon earn again )
  • kangarootoo #13 2 years ago

    "any money lost, I'll soon earn again"

    Interesting logic. Though I think technically that is new money you are earning, and the lost money is still lost.

    You don't work for a bank do you?

    The Alan Wake in the Eurogamer wallpaper-ad looks like Ronnie O'Sullivan.
  • The_Bloody_Kettle #15 2 years ago

    Looks like a solid 7/10. I agree with Ellie.
    Good game play, if a little linear by today's current standards. But sadly the way the story is told is very poor, where's the pacing? And it looks so goddamn cheesy, particularly the enemy's voice's.

    I think I might avoid this one.

    For FUCK sake! Gaming now NEEDS writers, REAL writers who actually specialise in their *chosen* profession, not some tea boy who thinks he's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades! I mean this game is *supposed* to depict a writer, absolutely criminal.

    "Wild and dark and weird" "it began with a dream" *faceplam*

    It's not just this either, Heavy Rain is a genuinely progressive game tripping over it's own shoelaces with bad fucking dialogue!

    "That's how a girl kicks butt! You go girl!" Arghhh!! Something MUST be done about this! With a decent wordsmith, gaming "thrillers" could effortlessly rival film equivalents. Come on! We're nearly there!
  • potter73 #17 2 years ago

    @Kangarootoo (+1 by the way)

    Fair point m8 lol. Should have said I'll 'recoup any loss made', and no don't work for a bank

    Actually, thinking on it further it's the cheese that I like, it reminds me of that TV show in Max Payne, the one with the flamingo, damn it's going to drive me nuts trying to remember what that's called.

    Edit: it's called Address Unknown, gawd bless the internet.

    Comments sections are getting buggier, editing this deleted all content.

    @potter73 - You do realise that those opening 10 minutes might be the best part of the game and that is why it got 7/10? ;)
  • potter73 #20 2 years ago

    @Darren

    lol...true.

    But Im determined to give it a try ...seen a few reviews now and there are a few that are a bit more favourable than the EG review
  • kangarootoo #21 2 years ago

    @potter73

    Critisism diplomatically received. Kudos to you :)

    Camera looks like a bitch
  • makeamazing #23 2 years ago

    Voice over is a bit grating, and the cameras remind me of Alone in the Dark :|
