I may actually go back to this for a second play though. Great game!

Yes great game but does the new PC version support DirectX 10 graphics,
oops, emm I meant DirectX 11 graphics ?
  • Darren #4 3 months ago

@MMMMMM7 - The game is DX9 only I believe but unlike lesser lazy "console ports" has lots of graphics options to tweak (including MSAA and FXAA support). DX11 support would have been nice for the extra performance from being optimized for multi-threading but the game looks great with exceptional lighting (much like The Witcher 2 which was also DX9-only).

Can't wait for tomorrow. I held off buying the 360 version in the hope of a PC version so it has been a very long wait for me.

I sincerely hope more people buy the PC version of this, the original, than 360 owners who buy the awful-looking American Nightmare. Any possible sequel shouldn't stand to be influenced by the brainless gameplay present in AN.

I wholeheartedly recommend this to any PC owners.

I've been burnt too many times now by crappy un-optimised console ports that I'm going to give this a week before buying.

    Examples:
    Batman AC
    From Dust
    Test Drive Unlimited 2
    Rage

    etc...

Enjoyed the game when I played it on 360 even if it wasn't what I hoped it would be. Don't get me wrong, it is a great game but some things annoyed me like the way that if an enemy was coming up behind you the game would slow down and the camera pan back to show you. I felt it would have been more unnerving to be walking through the woods and to just get attacked when you least expected it, rather than the game making a point of showing you you're about to be attacked.

Hopefully the PC version has got some decent graphics tweaks considering the 360 version released nearly 2 years ago

@Grump - Get Batman AC off that list right now! The PC version was beautiful, so much so that I bought it again to play through in "proper HD" after finishing it on console.
  • butler` #11 3 months ago

@Grump you think rage was a console port?
  • Darren #12 3 months ago

@glottis0 - You clearly didn't buy at launch when DX11 was pretty much broken until it was patched some weeks later. I'm guessing that's why Grump has it included in that list. ;)

Yes, you could run it fine under DX9 but the game defaulted to DX11 on my system and constantly hitched and stuttered until it was patched.

I didn't even know there was a PC version coming until I noticed it on Steam the other day.
I might be tempted to buy it.

I really enjoyed the 360 version in spite of the awful script and voice acting. It's an enjoyable atmospheric shooter with a lost episode of Garth Marenghis's Dark Place stitched in between! What's not to like?

Requires Vista and a DX 10-compatible graphics card.

    Hehe. Sorry.
