Oh look, the brown returns. Disappointing I think, sorry Insomniac, even if you have finished the game, this looks fairly bland.
  • Beano #2 1 year ago

    This looks great :)

I'm sure not the entire game will be brown... to early to judge the entire game by a small 4 min. clip from one section of the game.

Finally, a Resistance game that doesn't look like a high end PS2 title.
Now it looks more like HL2 done using the Unreal Engine ;-)

Never really liked Killzone, but Im impressed with the environments, the way the trees are blowing etc
  • DUFFKING #11 1 year ago

From someone who hated R2 with a passion, that looks quite nice.
  • beatwolf #12 1 year ago

    its not killzone but resistance.
  • Stepharneo #13 1 year ago

There were two things I loved about the original resistance, firstly it was set in Britain, bugger all games are (especially fps) and it seems like an underused location to me. Secondly it had a split screen co-op story mode. Both of these were missing from the second game and along with the graphics that felt like they'd not improved at all since the first game it was a very underwhelming experience.
That said I did play that online co-op mode with my friends quite a bit and that magnum with the remote detonating rounds is awesome.
I understand story wise why it is so brown and grey, but it does seem like if you are making a story you could adapt it to include some other colours, like I dunno maybe the Chimera need their own vegetation and have started growing forests. In any case the freak weather effects look pretty.

cant wait for this game love the resistance series and this one looks like it gonna be even better, hope the online changes tho because thats wot let resistance 2 down imo
  • nova82 #15 1 year ago

There's too much whining about the grey and brown look without anyone trying to reason why Insomniac does this.
Since Resistance series take place in the 50's.they're giving a 50's retro look.
No one complains about Fallout who has almost the exact same colour palete which is mirrored by the 50's retro look there too.

That looks like an entirely new engine. Also im sure the enviroments will be diverse in the final game
  • Gazza_UK #17 1 year ago

    love the new look

Hmmm, will see how it turns out.

If any multiplatorm title had two games that were as average as Resistance/2 no one would be giving a shit about this, and I doubt we would be seeing a third game.

But it's an exclusive, so gets elevated by fans of the platform it's on just so they can argue there is another decent exclusive on the system.

Sometimes I wonder if it would be a good thing that console hardware was like any other hardware. A set of specifications every one follows, so anyone can make the hardware, and anyone can release content without licence fees. Then these exclusives wouldn't get the attention they don't deserve. At least until they have proven they have made anything other than another average shooter.

Looks bang tidy. Can't wait for this.
  • Stepharneo #20 1 year ago

    @TruthGiver
Oh yeah I forgot the health bar...that was a definite plus to the first game.
  • richyroo #21 1 year ago

Major fail on my part, thought it was Killzone. Still, I never really like Resistance, but the environments are impressive, the way the trees are blowing etc

If I may speak frankly: I'm wondering why I should invest in this shooter with all the others in the market. It looks very 'epic' but they all do, these days. Rather, I'm looking forward to the likes of Bulletstorm and Brink since they seem to bring different ideas to the fold.

I'm of the opinion that Resistance has become a bit of an ego project for Insomniac, as they stubbornly try to justify continuing a franchise with is rather average in most aspects.

By means of giving the other side of the argument a chance: I think the environmental effects are quite lovely and if there is a decent amount of variety, it might be fun. I enjoyed the first Resistance and while it didn't stick with me afterwards, the journey itself was pretty decent. The second one... yeah, no.

However, if there's no offline splitscreen, then eff you Insomniac.

  • ninjanutta #24 1 year ago

um,insomniac dont do crap games, stop whining because this wiil be brilliant, its got all the good parts about res 1 and 2 with a load of new and better graphics to boot.this will rock.also resistance 2 was pretty far ahead in multiplayer,it had 60 person multi, thats only been topped by MAG and that was built from the ground up for online.

    Seems REALLY bland...
