  Asking for money for a game on Kickstarter is largely dependent on the backers' goodwill. The larger the amount of money, the more goodwill you're asking for. The less of the game you've made, the more goodwill you're asking for.
  
  Asking for nearly half a million quid for a concept when you could easily attract a big-name publisher and not even confirming that you're going to be offering the game DRM-free is, to be honest, just embarrassingly bad. Reply +43

  @dogmanstaruk I agree that they're not as good as Intel equivalents because their workrate is inferior, but I would stop short of attributing the poor performance of PS2 solely to that. I use a hybrid-crossfired A8-3870K with a 6670 on my Windows machine (I mainly use Linux, which has the 1155 setup) and can run Skyrim and other traditionally "CPU-dependent" games very well, and benchmarks — synthetic and game-based — that I've recorded myself compare surprisingly favourably with Sandy and Ivy Bridge CPUs. But this game? Awful. Reply 0

  Sad to see them selling Windows-only games with DRM. I know it's Steam, and it's good that charities will get so much money (though note that usual charity, the EFF, are absent this time), but it's a sad precedent with Linux gaming in particular finally taking off. Reply -7

  @SaintDaveUK I disagree: I think faster boot times, far less (essentially no) risk of virus infection, and greater stability with less intrusive updating -- to name a few -- make it better than Windows; but I would concede that, with the exception of a few distros specifically geared up towards newer users, Linux can still seem a bit too esoteric.   This is excellent news as -- open-source evangelism aside -- Linux just makes for a better operating system than Windows.
  
  I wonder whether Valve's interest in Linux is ultimately rooted in their intention to release the mythical 'Steambox' with a Linux-powered OS. Whatever happens, I'm happy, even if it's likely to be a binary release only available via the Ubuntu Software Centre. Reply +1

  Played it for about a week and got so bored I quit and haven't played it since. Glad I traded stuff in for it rather than bought it new. Torchlight was more entertaining.
