Ew, gross. Possibly even uglier than the Xbox 1. Awful name too, awful everything. What a bizarre turnaround from a console as great as the 360. Reply+8
I downloaded the Journey demo and thought it was ugly and extremely boring. I wanted to like it as I generally like more obscure, subtle and quirky games, but I was shocked and bemused at the praise it gets.
Either the demo is not a great representation of the full game, or people fool themselves into liking it so as not to be a heathen, unable to appreciate the apparent "artistry" of the game. Reply-1
@DeViells I absolutely agree with those stating we should be given a choice. Us framerate whores should be allowed to choose 720p60 over 1080p30.
Having experienced games like Bayonetta, Forza, RR6, COD etc, I find it very hard to play any action or driving games that run at 30.
They feel less responsive, less immersive, and the ghosting hurts my eyes.
I've always been a console gamer rather than a PC gamer and I'm excited about the PS4, but if this next generation sticks to the current 30fps standard, us framerate whores are better off with a powerful gaming HTPC. Reply+1
Doesn't sound reliable at all. A dirty or scratched disk could conceivably load slower than a brand new "copy". Then again, maybe people who treat their disks like shit deserve to be banhammered :D Reply0
Triggers still don't look legit to me. We'll wait and see. Looks alright, but a bit still a bit frumpy and dorky compared to the Dual Shock 3. Reply-14
Criterion are the shizzles. Burnout Revenge running at 60fps on the PS2 is unbelievable, for example. They put almost every other dev to shame from a performance perspective. Reply+2
RE5 fucking sucked, and it looks like RE6 is even worse. They turned a survival horror into a generic, 3rd person shooter. I loved RE 1 to 4, and Code Veronica, so hopefully they can turn it around and return to form. Reply+1
@ATARI no, it has nothing to do with his machine. It happens on ANYTHING running 30fps with no interpolation and no motion blur. His eyes are just more sensitive to it than most, evidently. Reply0
@ATARI He simply means ghosting. It's evident in all 30fps games, but mainly with fast horizontal movement (ie spinning around in a first person shooter etc).
It's not evident at 60fps as the gap between the objects movement between one frame and another is not large enough for your eyes to notice, as with 30.
Of course it still doesn't feel anywhere near as nice and fluid as 60, but motion blur does work wonders for 30fps imo. Reply0
BTW it's true that a lot of console titles do employ motion blur to "soften" the relative jerkiness of 30fps. I hate a raw 30fps, but can tolerate it with motion blur. Reply0

To think Criterion got Burnout 3 and Revenge running on the PS2 at a solid 60fps, they put most devs to shame.
Anyone who prefers resolution to framerate is insane.
I was really, really hoping the PS4 would bring back 60fps as the new standard. Reply +2
